Was “Prince of Persia” any good? Should you rent “When in Rome?” Why am I sort of watching “Burn Notice?” Well, you will find out the answers to all of these questions, and more, during this episode of the “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast!

As the podcast starts, though, my weekend was lazing, at least Sunday, and I reminisce with Stu Gotz about the first album I ever bought, Queen’s “Night at the Opera,” while he actually reels me in to a bad joke about Oprah that he heard while officiating the nuptuals of a couple in love. We do discuss TV, because it’s what we do, and Stu finally caught up on the MTV Movie Awards and realizes he’s old, while I was half-interested in “Burn Notice,” although sadly Zynga’s latest game for Facebook, Frontierville, has caught my attention. There is an abundance of movie-talk, also, with my early Blu-ray review of “When In Rome,” Stu went into a theater for “Prince of Persia,” he watched a Netflix movie I had but never watched called “500 Days of Summer,” and Stu is not excited about 3-D movies, anymore, except maybe the upcoming “Toy Story 3.”

Stu wonders when I’m getting a new iPhone, I’m wondering why weddings cost so much, Stu recommends a tuxedo place, and there’s a good lesson as to why you should secure your domain name for as long as possible, especially when the police are involved.

How do we fit so much into 20 minutes of podcasting? No commercials! Actually, I don’t know how, but we do, so sit back, have a listen, and feel free to weigh in with what you think!

“Get Him to the Greek” is Good, The BP Oil Spill is Bad; Howie Mandel is Funny, Jimmy Buffett seems Sad.

Our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast is a day late because Stu Gotz was on a fact-finding mission to Key Largo, but I think he just wanted some time away from kids so he could spend quality time with Mama Gotz, or maybe just go diving. As Stu tells it, he was on a mission to check out the reefs in the area prior to them being contaminated by the BP oil spill, but he really seemed to talk more about the local spots he and Mama Gotz visited where the only fish they saw were the ones that ended up in their belly and they serve a lot of Bud Light.

SCUBA diving aside, I tell Stu if “Get Him to the Greek” is any good (It is!), and we both discuss the failings and not-so-failings going on at the launch of the new iPhone at the Apple WWDC. I find out that Stu isn’t a fan of Andy Ihnatko, a tech writer for the Chicago Sun Times, whereas I enjoy his articles, Stu is excited that “Burn Notice” is coming back, and I don’t care, I think Howie Mandel is a great judge on “America’s Got Talent,” Stu likes “Supernatural,” Jimmy Buffett seems sad, and it looks like graduation parties will be a part of my life for many years to come!

And to wrap up the podcast summary, during this podcast you can find out which one of us is excited about the new “The A-Team” movie, if either of us want to see the new “Karate Kid,” and how I’m hoping for the Chicago Blackhawks to win the Stanley Cup this year because I need to shave.

Get Him to the Greek

May was a long month and I needed to laugh. Thankfully Judd Apatow produced another funny movie, this time “Get Him to the Greek,” and yup, oh my God, it’s actually a movie review a new movie! In any case, it’s an adult film, in much the same way “The 40 Year Old Virgin” and “Knocked Up” are adult films, and this one takes the rock star life to just a slightly higher level than actual reality, and hilarity ensues. Yup, I’m giving it 4 1/2 stars, and if you like any of the Judd Apatow touched stuff, this one ranks up there with the best of them.

Pirate Radio

I really wanted to like "Pirate Radio" more than I did, so during my Blu-ray review of the movie I try to disect it. Okay, I really don’t, mostly I just give a synopsis of the movie and a brief idea of what to expect on the Blu-ray. Mostly I think I didn’t like it that much because the humor was more along the intellectual, dry kind, and when I was watching the movie I wasn’t in the "thinking mode." Check out the review anyway, it might give you some insight if you might like the movie.

The Princess and the Frog

Not having kids, and even though I sometimes act like I’m 12, I am still a dude, so for my Blu-ray review of "The Princess and the Frog" I do my best to try to relate to the movie as a little girl, but I just can’t. The singing and dancing is fun enough, it looks good in the old-school animation kind of way, and the story is nice, but I’m a dude, I’m not dreaming of kissing a frog to find my Prince, and even though the dopey alligator was kind of funny, this is really a Blu-ray for the little girls, or the big girls still thinking that maybe they should kiss that frog because the cad they are with sure isn’t a Prince.

Repo Men

“Repo Men” is not a remake of the cult classic “Repo Man,” instead, during my review, I write, “The weird part about “Repo Men,” when I look back on it, is if you put the names Jude Law, Forest Whitaker, Liev Schreiber, and heck, Alice Braga into the same movie, how do you end up with this, and finally, did they all attend the “James T. Kirk School of Overacting” for a refresher course before filming?” The movie had weird potential, but never seemed to live up to it, and even the scene at the nudie bar didn’t help.

A New Gotz, Fun in a Parade, Birthday Wishes, TV Talk, and I Made an iPhone App!

Make Me Smile AppI can’t believe it took me nearly our entire “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, but I did find some time to plug my new iPhone / iPod touch app called “Make Me Smile,” now available on the App store! But plugs aren’t really what our weekends were about, hell, Stu Gotz got a new family member, and I was in a parade!

Yup, it’s St. Patrick’s Day time and I went to a parade, although there were not 76 trombones, and I tell Stu all about it, while Stu and the Gotz family help save a dog from being lonely. There was a lack of movie viewing this past weekend, although Stu did catch “The Cove,” the documentary about dolphin killings, and he admitted to getting weepy, while I got weepy watching “The Apprentice,” mostly because Rod Blagojovich is still around. Stu recommends some show called “The Inbetweeners” on BBC, I still can’t do a British accent, and birthday wishes go out to the 6 year old Little Gotz (in a strange, Christopher Walken kind of way), and I’m sad I never at at Harry’s Hot Dogs that used to be in Chicago, with said Harry Heftman celebrating 101 years young.

This upcoming weekend maybe we’ll both catch a movie, “Repo Men” or “The Bounty Hunter” probably at the top of the list, but the good news is that Spring officially begins this Saturday so of course they are calling for snow here in Chicago. Yay!

Old Dogs

I saw “Old Dogs” in the theater and didn’t like it that much, but I liked it a lot more when I watched it in the privacy of my own pad. My Blu-ray review of “Old Dogs” is posted, and pretty much you will get exactly what you expect. It has its moments, but this is really a movie to watch with the kids, and maybe chuckle along with them.

Academy Award Talk, We Saw Alice in Wonderland, a Lazy Sunday, and Ghost Ships in Milwaukee!

I’m tired, and during our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast I tell Stu Gotz that I’m blaming the Academy Awards. Yup, the both of us watched pretty much all of the Oscar telecast, and we pretty much agreed on a lot of things, including who won some of the awards and that there was some wacked-out dudette who now has perpetuated the term "Kanye Moment" when she tried to upstage the dude who was giving the speech when Best short something-or-other won an award. So, yes, our podcast has tons of commentary about the Academy Awards telecast, and we even discuss some fashion!

It was a nice weekend for me, especially Sunday when I accomplished absolutely nothing, and Stu had a nice weekend as well, giving a talk up in Milwaukee, WI, for the Ghost Ships Festival. We both were able to see "Alice in Wonderland" and disagree about the use of 3-D in the movie but not about the movie itself, Stu wants everyone to watch Academy Award winning documentary "The Cove," and I’m looking forward to maybe catching "She’s Out of My League" next weekend while Stu doesn’t even seem to know what it is.

What Would Brian Boitano Do?, What Did Stu See?, What Girl Scout Cookies Do We Like?, and More!

By: The Dude on the Right

Stu Gotz wishes everyone "Happy Dupa Day!." I know what Brian Boitano would do, and Olympic withdrawal isn’t really a part of this episode of our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast. Sure, the Winter Olympics are over and Stu Gotz has a new Wii game about it, but both of us are actually happy the sport’s fest is over because that means our normal TV viewing is back, especially "Chuck," although we could both do without Jay Leno returning, and we analyze "The Marriage Ref." Me, I didn’t see any movies but did hit a lot of stores, while Stu and the Gotz clan went to see "Percy Jackson & The Olympians" and he says that "Harry Potter" has nothing to worry about.

Stu does make me a little bummed, as I think about it now, because he’s got Girl Scout Cookies on the way, and I have none, but I’ll get over it as I sort of spill the beans a little about a project I’m finishing up that has kept me away from movie-going. Stu wonders if my BFF will be mad if we have a boys day and see "Alice in Wonderland" this Friday, he also is looking forward to the DVD of "Gentlemen Broncos," and is preparing for Daylight Saving Time on March 14th, and me, well, next week I’m hoping to make a giant announcement, a huge announcement, or at least an announcement, but for now you’ll have to listen to get a clue!
