So Astrid (Alison Lohman) is now thrown into the foster care system
because her mom (Michelle Pfeiffer) kills some dude. One of the foster
families is a super-duper, religious type. Astrid can’t stand that,
and neither does mom. Another family seems to really care about
Astrid, but mom somehow wiggles her way and works to destroy this
relationship as well. What is Astrid to do except rebel against her
mom.
This looks like a touching story, but has chick-flick written all
over it. I’ll still try to see it anyway because it looks like a good
movie. Pfeiffer, Penn, and Zellweger is a trio of ladies I love to see
in movies, and its looking like a movie about a mother trying to
control her daughter, but losing the control because, well, she’s in
jail and the daughter realizes mom loves her, but also manipulates
her.
It has potential, but I’m looking to hear more about it.
