Some of the people in Hollywood have really figured things out. I’m not talking about how to make a good horror movie, I’m talking about how to make a movie that will make money. How do you do this? Well, you take a movie that has somewhat the potential for a decent horror flick, say, this movie, “Stay Alive,” and you make it just ungory enough, without enough gore, sex, violence, and the like, to make it rated R. This way the likes of my niece and her group of high school friends can spend their Saturday night seeing this movie instead of, well, anything else, because, well, it seems this is the perfect weekend to do so because there isn’t squat coming out at the same time nationwide.

In any case, the plot of the movie is simple. These teens find a weird videogame, that is really cool, and kinda creepy. Then, as their characters in the game start dying, they start dying, in the same way that the videogame characters died. Oooh, creepy and scary, but sadly, not creepy and scary enough, and not with enough sex, to make this movie rated R.

The cast of characters doesn’t really have anyone whose name I am familiar with, so maybe it will be a nice starting point for some of these actor’s careers. Me, I’m just bummed it’s rated PG-13, so maybe it will give me a chance to catch up on some of my movie viewing and skip this movie because, well, they’re going for the money on this one, and not the horror, and that’s a bummer. My niece will probably like it, though.

That’s it for this preview! I’m The Dude on the Right!! L8R!!!
