Hollow Man
A Movie Review

MPAA Rated - R

It's 1:54 Long

A Review by
The Dude on the Right
There were two reasons why I wanted to see "Hollow Man." One was that I think Kevin Bacon is a great actor and would be good as a twisted invisible man, deviant and mean. The other was that ever since "Adventures in Babysitting," I think Elisabeth Shue is one of the best and hottest actresses out there and I hoped she would get naked. Well, Kevin didn’t disappoint, and even though Ms. Shue didn’t get naked, she was still great in her role and wore some nice underwear.

Kevin Bacon plays Sebastian, a scientist, who along with his team, has been hired by the government to develop a way to change the light spectrum of a person so that they are invisible. The team has found the key to becoming invisible, the problem is that they haven’t found the way to reverse the process, thereby making the subject visible again. Well, one night, Sebastian believes he has found the key to the reversing process, it’s time for the test on the gorilla who has been made invisible, and in one of the coolest special effects sequences I have ever scene, we get to see the invisible gorilla become visible again.

Sebastian isn’t happy, though, because he knows if he tells the government he has found the reversing process, well, they will take over the project, delay human trials, and he won’t be able to be the first human to become invisible. So he convinces Linda (Shue) and her partner that he should be the first invisible man and they lie to the rest of the scientific team that the government had approved Sebastian being the first human trial.

All goes well on the making invisible part, but alas, the reversal process doesn’t work (I guess humans and gorillas aren’t that close in the gene pool), and Sebastian quickly goes more crazy while stuck in invisibleness. He hates being invisible until he realizes the freedom it gives him, and when his co-workers realize that Sebastian has turned evil, well, they realize he must be stopped before he can escape.

Alright, sure, there are some stupid things in this plot like why didn’t Sebastian just stay outside the compound the first time, but then I guess we wouldn’t have the big fight scene at the end nor the ingenuity of Linda making a giant electromagnet. With that "Hollow Man" could have opted for more originality than seeing chicks naked and killing the General who could stand in your way of freedom, and, oh yea, the love triangle of Sebastian, Linda, and the other co-worker, but it kept things simple and just had Linda make sure she would kill Sebastian (so much for the sequel). But, "Hollow Man" did have some quality nudity, some quality kills, and Elisabeth Shue in her underwear. With that it’s 3 ½ stars out of 5 for "Hollow Man." The movie isn’t bad, kinda what you would expect, the effects are incredible, and you also get some to see some boobs and a quality tire iron shoved through the body. What more do you want!

That’s it for this one! I’m The Dude on the Right!! L8R!!!
