A Special Guest Podcaster, The WGN, Joins for TV, Comedian, Gun, and Socially Inept Talk!
By:
The Dude on the Right
Gosh, it is so much easier to do a podcast when you've got someone to talk to,
so, via the magic of Skype, I am thrilled to have the WGN (World's Greatest
Nephew) back to join me for
this Thursday's podcast, and with his new headset and him plugged into his
Mac, things are sounding a hell of a lot better than the last time we tried
this. For this podcast I introduce my nephew to the magic of "America's
Got Talent," and am happy to hear that the boy, who actually isn't a boy
anymore, loves George Carlin, even having some of Mr. Carlin's material on his
iPod. My nephew is pretty cool, isn't he, and he reads, too!
We talk some Texas, how my Nephew has a job at a law firm, has shot a gun even though I haven't (which is topical with the Supreme Court ruling today), and how I probably can't help with his GF's accounting class. I do my best to explain the differences between our family gatherings and my BFF's family gatherings to him, and even though my nephew was -4 when Night Ranger's "Sister Christian" came out, he knew of the band, and he also regales his story of seeing Radiohead, which I hope to see at Lollapalooza, maybe even with my nephew as the guest reviewer!
And lastly my nephew might have ruined me by suggesting a game, "Dolphin Olympics 2." You will know that has happened if I don't have any new posting for a couple of weeks.
I hope you have fun seeing "Wall-E" this weekend (especially if you have kids), or catch "Wanted," or just have fun.
That's it for this one! I'm The Dude on the Right!! L8R!!!

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! Computer Issues, Movie Talk, The Rest of the Family, and Remembering George Carlin
By:
The Dude on the Right
Computer
issues seem to be proliferating the lives of myself and Stu Gotz, so for this
podcast episode of "Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up!", well, we, among
other things, lament about our computer problems. Mine deal with not
getting new reviews posted, namely I haven't gotten my movie review of "Get
Smart," nor the concert review of "The Swell Season" posted yet (those are
coming soon since things are fixed, I hope, with the testingness of getting this
podcast posted should show things are resolved), while Stu is waiting for a
package to solve his computer issues, although Mama Gotz might have come up with
a cheaper solution.
Stu,
along with his computer issues, also talks about his Netfilx viewing, and Mama
Gotz still hating me because, now, of their seeing
"No Country for Old Men," and even though I didn't give my official review
of "Get Smart" yet, I do give Stu my take on the movie during the podcast.
Me, I also saw more of the family of my BFF over my weekend, (happily, or maybe
sadly, without them greeting me with bags over their heads), I lent Stu the
extended version of "Stripes" because of the deleted scene of P.J. Soles, and
the UPS Store Girl aside, Stu and I are sad to hear of the passing of George
Carlin who died yesterday. We talk about his comedy,
our seeing him, his great movie roles (and yes, screwing that up George
Carlin was actually Cardinal Ignatius Glick instead of a Bishop, as we
referenced him, in the movie
"Dogma"), and neither of us really knew why Mr. Carlin's
"Seven Dirty Words"
joke ended up being so controversial. We are both so young, yet getting
old.
And in honor of George Carlin, and to Kevin Smith, and the folks of "Dogma," "Snootch to the motherfuckin’ nootch!" And maybe Jesus should just be your buddy.

A "The Swell Season" Preview, Meeting Family, The Bachelorette, and Missing "Nessun Dorma" on "America's Got Talent."
By:
The Dude on the Right
My nephew might be a guest podcaster guest next week, but today I'm
flying solo for this podcast where I talk about seeing an Oscar winning
group called "The Swell Season," with
the likes of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova,
the duo from the movie
"Once," as I try to get back into the concert reviewing
scene. And what a great concert it was, and as the folks are leaving the show,
what better song than "Love Me Sexy" by Jackie Moon to lead people into the
night.
The full review for that concert will be coming soon, but this podcast also lets me trepidate about seeing most of the balance of the family of my BFF (I hope the first half of the family will have my back!), I think I have some ideas about how to have my BFF visit the old country to visit my family, and I'm probably one of the few people left watching "The Bachelorette," but I'm so wishing one of the dudes would just star crying instead of the dudette.
I also can't figure out how I missed "America's Got Talent," especially, since, during the premier for the summer, they had a dude do a fantastic job of "Nessun Dorma" from Puccini's "Turandot." Yes, I admit it, I like some Opera, though I've never actually seen one.
Your new movie choices for this weekend are "The Love Guru" and "Get Smart," but, if either of those movies give you pause, and you want a big blast of action-enjoyment, at least at the movies, and if you haven't seen it yet, go and see "Iron Man" while you can, on the big screen, while you are just waiting for "Hancock" to come out over the 4th of July weekend.

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! Meeting the Parents, Minor League Baseball, Movie Talk, and a Dirty Health Scare.
By:
The Dude on the Right
Sometimes Stu Gotz and I struggle to find anything to talk about because our
weekends, respectively, are boring, but for whatever reason the cosmos' collided
and
suddenly we generated a 20+ minute podcast about our past weekend. I
mean, who knew doing some painting in a garage could be so exciting over the
entire weekend, and so full of stories, at least for Stu & Mama Gotz? Stu
also re-remembered the joy of attending the Kane County Cougars - minor league
baseball in a western suburb of Chicago, and found a new/old Jimmy Buffett song.
There was also a health scare in the Gotz family, but happily all is well!
Me, I gave Stu my take on seeing
"The Happening," mostly wondering why myself and Richard Roeper seem to be
liking some of the same movies lately, even though sometimes for different
reasons, and let Stu know that even though
"The Incredible Hulk" marketing is in full force, much like
"Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" it might just be best
to buy the little Gotz's the Hulk toys for them to create stories with their own imagination,
rather than give them nightmares by seeing a giant, green dude beat the
daylights out of numerous people on the movie screen.
For me, though, my largest portion of the podcast gives Stu my tales of meeting some of the family of my BFF, but most importantly her Mom and Dad. It was a Father's Day celebration for her family, but, for me, it was part "inquisition" (as it should be) and part "Norman Rockwell Family Gathering," and way different than most, if any, of this Dude's family gatherings, especially since no one went to go and see a movie after dinner. But, to all of the members of the family of my BFF that I did meet and might be reading this, I want to give all of you a shout-out for making me feel welcome, and hopefully my right wrist will heal by the next family gathering so I can play some guitar, although I have a feeling I'll have some kind of finger ailment on my left hand by then, and maybe laryngitis!

I'm Done with Digital, Dr. Drew v. Tom Cruise, Golfing Where Tiger Wood's Golfed, No New iPhone for The Dude, and Movies Galore!
By:
The Dude on the Right
That's it! I'm done with digital cameras, I'm going back to film!
Why? Because somewhere there was a digital picture showing that I actually
played golf, if you want to call it that, but I was at a golf course that Tiger
Woods plays at, namely Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California, and it was a really
nice picture of the third hole on the south course, (very scenic), and if I
remember right, I got a hole-in-one. Okay, I didn't get a hole-in-one, but
if my rented putter wasn't crooked I would have gotten par! The thing is
that, as I was frantically "searching" my hard drives for that picture, I fear I
might have deleted it, in a mad rush to free up some disk space, and now the
picture is gone forever. That has never happened with any of my old
pictures I have on film. Ugh!
But this podcast isn't all about golf, nope, the latest war of words involves one Dr. Drew Pinsky and one lawyer for Tom Cruise, and I put them in the boxing ring. I also put Steve Carell and Mike Myers in the boxing ring with their latest movies, "Get Smart" and "The Love Guru" coming out on June 20th. And I'm also looking more forward to seeing "The Incredible Hulk" rather than "The Happening," and as much as I like to be on the cutting edge of technology, I will not be standing in line this year, to get the 3G iPhone, mostly because it doesn't have enough memory for my 6400+ songs. Maybe Apple will have a 64 gig version come Christmas-time! Hopefully, though, with the new iPhone release, someone comes up with a nice application to organize, and save, your digital photos, so you don't do something stupid like delete them when they might be perfect for a podcast you do nearly 5 years later.

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! "Echoes," Movies, T-Ball, an Attic, and a Tornado!
By:
The Dude on the Right
Sure, we're a day late and a dollar short, but Stu Gotz and I are here for
our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast! It was sort of a weird weekend for the
both of us because, for me, I went home to
visit Mom in the Old Country, while Stu, hanging with his Gotz family, saw
"Kung Fu Panda" and hunkered down in his basement following a call from Jim
Cantore from The Weather Channel. Me, at home, I helped clean out an attic
in oppressive heat, saw
"You Don't Mess With the Zohan" solo (It's just not the same seeing a movie
without your BFF! Sorry, I digress!) toured some cemeteries, and ate some
ribs, while Stu, well he realizes a little Gotz might not be the baseball star
he was hoping he would be (who knew that T-Ball can't keep a kid's attention?),
almost saw a tornado (although our grave-digger friend was a couple of hundred
yards outside the path of it), and Mama Gotz now hates me thanks to Stu Gotz's
choice on his Netflix queue of
"Walk Hark: The Dewey Cox Story."
The both of us also talk about a disappearing lake named Lake Delton, a flying dog, and the upcoming "The Incredible Hulk" movie. Through it all we listen to "Echoes" from Pink Floyd, - it is, after all, over 15 minutes long, and if you strap on some headphones during this podcast, you might hear the song as well, because, well, it is a "Headphones Only" kind of song.

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! A MySpace Page Change, Catch and Release, and "Sex and the City."
By:
The Dude on the Right
So I made a significant change to
my MySpace
Page, and the fallout is now happening. Sadly Stu Gotz and I recorded
our
"Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast prior to the fallout, but Stu had his own way of
avoiding a question he has asked two times before, and to my dismay I can't
believe I actually enabled him by supplying him with a music clip.
Weekend-wise, though, Stu's wasn't that exciting, but hanging with your family
on a little vacation doesn't have to be that exciting, just relaxing and showing
the kids that you can catch a fish, take a picture, and throw them back in the
water (the fish, not the kids) can be time well spent. Me, I tell Stu how
my BFF got me to expand my culinary horizons at a variety of restaurants in
Chicago, such as Red Light, Sushi Wabi, and Marche, how we went to see
"Sex and the City" and both liked the movie, and how I was a little
surprised to hear opera singing at Chicago's Gospel Fest.
But the podcast isn't all about us, nope, I regale Stu with clips from a Pastor/Minister/Whomever, wondering how he doesn't get sued, and Stu leaves me high-and-dry for part of the podcast, searching the Internet for potential nip-slips from yesterday's "MTV Movie Awards" gold-carpet show.
Now I just have to wait and see when my other BFF disowns me!
