I always wanted a copy of Carmina Burana, and living in
Chicago it pleased me to find a version by the Chicago
Symphony Orchestra with the Chicago Symphony Chorus. This is
one of those CD’s that I find best listened to on the louder
side, much so you can hear the nuances in the softer works,
and then be totally blown away when the crescendos hit. Most
people know the opening track, “O Fortuna,” although they
really don’t know what it is, but as a complete work, this
is one of my favorites in my too small classical collection.
The vocals by June Anderson, Philip Creech, and Bernd Weikl
are phenomenal, and the Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus ain’t
too shabby either. If you like “O Fortuna”, if you know what
it is, this would be a great addition to your musical
library. It’s a 100% on the Entertainment Ave! listenability
scale for this version. Always one of my favorites.
That’s it for this quick review! I’m The Dude on the
