Introduced to “The Nerds” on my first trip to New Jersey,
I got to see them at this place called
Joe Pops on Long
Beach Island. From that instant I’ve always regarded them as
one of the best bar/cover/party bands out there because they
really know how to connect with the crowd. If you want to
know how much, this is the CD that really shows this,
although good luck finding a copy because it’s been out of
print for years, but you can find information about them by
going to www.the-nerds.com
If you can find yourself a copy, spotlights include a
fabulous cover of “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant,”
teaching the crowd the proper words for “Sweet Caroline (way
before
Neil Diamond started doing it in concert),”
and a rousing version of “American Pie.” There are also a
couple of original tunes, like “Dancin’ Like White Guys” and
“If B’s Were V’s” which gives you the line “Then I’d ve in
lobe with you.” You gotta like that.
This one is a 95% on the Entertainment Ave! listenability
scale. I’m just sorry you can’t listen to it. Catch them
live on the east coast, or hell, pay for them to play your
wedding. It will be worth it.
