Originally I really liked this CD, but I don’t know what
happened, if my tastes have changed that dramatically or I
just got more used to the radio-friendly Jewel, but
something has happened where I don’t find the wailing, and
maybe wailing isn’t the right word to use, but in any case,
there was a stretch when the songs just kinda ran together
into a long, overblown rant with her voice all over the
place. I know this was somewhat of her earlier appeal, but
maybe I like the polished Jewel better now than the raw
Jewel on this CD. I still like the standards, your “Who Will
Save Your Soul”, “Pieces of You,” “Morning Song,” and “You
Were Meant for Me,” but I found myself really not liking
most of the rest of it. Like I said, maybe my musical tastes have
changed. Oh well, for me, now, this one ranks at 50% on the
Entertainment Ave! listenability scale. Maybe I should
revisit it ten years from now and see what I think again.
