Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! Black Friday, A Walnut Room, Painting, Gambling, Movies, and More!

By: The Dude on the Right
As we are slowly getting recording our podcast on my MacBook laptop a little more consistent, it was kind of weird because as much as this was a long weekend for the both of us with Turkey-Day involved, I still wonder why our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast is usually about the same things.

Stu, well, with the holiday, started getting the Little Gotz's involved in science with a trip to the "Museum of Science and Industry" in Chicago, and then introduced them to bad food at "The Walnut Room" while I advise people just show up there to see the Christmas Tree and get dinner somewhere else.  He also saw the movie "Bolt" in 3-D and thought the story sucked but was good for the kids, and Mama Gotz wouldn't let him finish watching "Delta Farce" thanks to his Netflix queue.  He also tries to analyze an episode of "The Big Bang Theory," and we both loved the "Naked Man" episode of "How I Met Your Mother."

Me, I tell Stu about me and my BFF having dinner with The Dude on the Left and Trash; lunch with The Mystery Dude and Mama Mystery Dude; how I didn't see any movies over the Thanksgiving weekend (but am looking forward to a review of "Australia" from The W.G.N.); how little ones are becoming gamblers; and am thankful that the Chicago Bears loss to the Minnesota Vikings might save me some hours from watching football for the rest of the season, although that time might be now taken by listening to Britney Spears' new CD, "Circus."

So much more, so much less, but as always, thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! Fireworks, Movies, Manners, and a Cheap Dude

By: The Dude on the Right
Stu Gotz is here for our "Weekend Wrap-Up! Podcast" and he started grumpy, but now is just perturbed at me because I'm too cheap to take a quick Apple class to get our podcast to sound better with the two USB headsets I'm trying to use.  Me, I'm just stubborn, and yes, I am cheap.

My cheapness aside, myself, I skipped the movies with my BFF, instead catching the end of the Magnificent Mile Festival of Lights Parade, where maybe our vantage point was crap for float viewing, but if you want the perfect view for the fireworks, I know the spot and I'm not telling.  Stu didn't catch a parade, didn't take the little Gotz's to see "Bolt," but his seeing "Quantum of Solace" did lend us to some James Bond talk.  On the funnier front, Stu revisited "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," while I have Netflix viewing to catch up with, including "Tropic Thunder!"

There is a little talk about The Chicago Bears and their leading the division yet still sucking, Stu ponders his Twitter Tweets, manners, and a way to help save the environment because you only wipe your butt with one hand.

Stu, being the Scuba man that he is, lastly reminisces on the ending of the YMCA Scuba Training, with a little but of animosity.

Neither of us know if we will see "Transporter 3," "Australia," or "Four Christmases" at the movies this week for Thanksgiving, but did enjoy Justin Timberlake in a black unitard on Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago.

Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for listening!

Here Comes Britney Spears' Circus, Here Comes "Twilight," and Here Are "Jillian Michaels' Clips of the Week!"

By: The Dude on the Right
Nothing gets me more exciting than news about Britney Spears, but, okay, news about Britney Spears doesn't normally get me excited, but I'm podcasting solo, and I got a notice from Pollstar that as of today she only has one concert date in 2009,and it's in the Chicago area, probably for her "Circus" tour, and in the words of "The Pointer Sisters," I'm so excited!  Yay!

Two movies open this weekend, and it's all about the teen girls and children, so I also podcast a bit about "Twilight" and "Bolt," and as Thanksgiving is upon us, I am a little melancholy because this will be the first Thanksgiving that I don't make the trek to the "Old Country" since my days in retail as a Radio Shack Manager or working at a camera store.

Thankfully, though, as a touch of sadness enters this podcast, there's nothing like my "Jillian Michaels' Clips of the Week" segment to snap me back to reality, and inspire me to face another day!

And as always, thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! "Quantum of Solace," The Chicago Bears Suck, A Crabman, and More!

By: The Dude on the Right
I think I had a more exciting weekend than Stu Gotz, but to really find out, I suppose you'll have to listen to this week's "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast.

For Stu, well, most of his weekend was about family.  He caught a movie with Mama Gotz, "27 Dresses," a movie I watched a few weeks ago with my BFF, and Stu kind of liked it.  He also is keeping track of "Entourage" on HBO, and really isn't that sad that "My Own Worst Enemy" got cancelled from his TV schedule because he thought the show blew its load way too early in the season.  He did find it surprising that YouTube booted his short video of one of the Little Gotz's when he got a message that his video was booted for having copyrighted material, even though it did contain copyrighted music. so, I guess, ahh, the Wild West of the universe might have really found a new sheriff, but I was just surprised that Stu actually knew what an algorithm was!

Me, I prognosticated, via Twitter, that the Chicago Bears would beat the Green Bay Packers by a score of 96 to 3, whereas sadly the score was almost exactly the opposite.  I tell Stu how much the Bears sucked, even though I didn't get to see most of the game because the BFF and I went to see, "Quantum of Solace," which I still haven't decided if that was a good or bad thing, and we also went to the NBC Travel Expo at Navy Pier in Chicago and were both kind of disappointed at the representations of some Caribbean locals we were thinking of vacationing to.  I did get to see Crabman and Catalina from "My Name is Earl," though only from afar, my BFF and I got to admire Mike Adamle (and I so wish I had a video camera) eating popcorn, and nothing wraps up an exciting weekend like cleaning your garage!

Sure, there are some other things we talk about, but for those, well, you'll just have to listen to the podcast.

And as always, thanks for listening!

Werewolves, Bears, Turkeys, and Jillian Michaels.

By: The Dude on the Right
I decided to keep this podcast kind of short, but I can't believe I almost forgot to include my "Jillian Michaels' Clips of the Week" feature, which, well, I haven't done in a few weeks, but with my return to really paying attention to "The Biggest Loser," they return at the end of this podcast.  But before that, I do warn you about a full moon and werewolves, remind you that Thanksgiving and Christmas is right around the corner, and hope that the Chicago Bears can, with hopefully Kyle Orton back at the helm, defeat the Green Bay Packers on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.

There is a little talk of "Survivor: Gabon," but a good portion of this podcast is dedicated to my still thinking "The Biggest Loser" shouldn't be two hours long, how I can't believe I actually hate a contestant (that would be Vicky), was so elated when Amy flipped, and hope the black team members rally around Amy to keep her around.  Vicky should have been watching "My Name is Earl" last year, before she was a contestant on "The Biggest Loser," to learn about the Karma Train, but right now it's almost looking like Karma is going to kick her in the ass.

And yes, the podcast does end with my "Jillian Michaels' Clips of the Week," and from it we can learn her favorite word.

Thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! Bubble Tea, Families, Movies, and an Injury.

By: The Dude on the Right
Stu Gotz is here for our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast, where he makes fun of the fact I've been dating my BFF for six months.  But this podcast is not only about Stu making fun of me, somehow we cram tons of talk of tons of things into almost twenty minutes of a podcast.

Included in our talking is a quick discussion about bubble tea, with me and the BFF finding "Chill Bubble Tea" at Woodfield Mall on the way to an early Thanksgiving family get-together where "Mexican Fiesta" was the theme, and I am still in wonderment at the family gatherings of my BFF because they are so different from how mine are.  Of course we talk about movies, with Stu Gotz seeing "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" with the Little Gotz's and Mama Gotz, at the IMAX theater at Navy Pier in Chicago, while I got to see "Role Models" and really enjoyed it, in an R-Rated kind of way.  I was surprised to learn Stu actually knew of the movie "Like Water for Chocolate," which I watched with my BFF thanks to my Netflix queue (and liked it), and Stu reminds me I might want to catch up on "Entourage" on HBO and reminds the ladies that if they want to see wieners in movies, they might want to catch "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," "The Piano," or "Forgetting Sarah Marshall."

We also give our breakdown of the Chicago Bears' loss to the Tennessee Titans, and Stu is injured thanks to digging dirt and playing with his Wii.  That's his Nintendo Wii, and playing with his other Wii didn't seem to help build up any muscles.

So much to talk about, so little time, but somehow we cram it all in, and are both looking forward to the new James Bond flick coming this weekend, "Quantum of Solace."

Thanks for listening!

Another Reason to Avoid Lorain, OH, eBay Stupidity, Oprah, and South Park.

By: The Dude on the Right
Flying solo for this Thursday podcast, I am duly impressed by the boys of South Park and their ability to get an animated episode done in mere hours.  Sure, most of the episode was probably already "in the can" as it would be, but on Wednesday night's episode, mere hours after Barack Obama was declared President Elect, they had bits directly related to the night before, complete with parts of both Obama's and McCain's speeches, as well as their set designs.  Kind of funny, and who doesn't like seeing a dude in an emergency room with a flag stuck up his ass?

With a historic election came exciting front pages for major newspapers, and people are trying to make stupid amounts of money on eBay when, umm, people, you can buy a copy of the Chicago Sun Times or the Chicago Tribune on their respective websites for about $10.00.  Who are the people who actually bought a copy of the Chicago Sun Times for $400.00 on eBay?

And finally, for this podcast, as I am losing more and more reasons to visit Lorain, OH., the folks there decided that a $15.00 increase in the license plate fee, for those people who own cars, was too much, and voted it down.  I give the proper math on how much that would have cost the vehicle owner, as well as explain why sometimes on a city work crew, well, you see people standing around, doing nothing.

Thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! Making a Porno, Don't Forget Sarah Marshall, The Elections and More!

By: The Dude on the Right
After re-listening to our latest "Stu & The Dude Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast, it doesn't sound as bad as I thought it might, though there is a slight echo, being recorded on my new MacBook and all, but there are still some microphone issues, some sound effects issues, and issues of shutting up Stu Gotz at times that I still need to deal with, but for about 18 minutes we have a bunch of topics to cover as quickly as we can.

Sure, there is a brief discussion about the passing of Mom on the Right, but as sometimes happens for us, especially over the weekend, movies seems to be a part of our lives, so I saw "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" and Stu liked, via Netflix, "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" sans the wiener.

Stu and Mama Gotz didn't get to see a movie, but they did hit some places for the kids over the weekend, namely a place with jumpy stuff for the kids at a birthday party, and someplace called "Space Golf" where Stu wonders if the people who run the place bought too much over-priced sci-fi crap.  It does, though, give a new place for my BFF and I to continue our miniature golf competition.

TV talk also proliferates this podcast, with talk of "My Name is Earl" and "South Park," and what would a podcast on the eve of the Presidential Election be without talk about the Presidential Election, or in Chicago, voting early and voting often.

It was great to talk with Stu again for a podcast, even if there were some audio issues, but as Stu comments about Studs Terkel, it ends up obvious that neither of us read many books, but we do watch TV and both liked John McCain on "Saturday Night Live."

Thanks for listening!

Bowling, A Mac World, and More!

By: The Dude on the Right
So this week I'm trying to get back to postings, trying to get back to normalcy, and as such I get back to a new podcast and I talk just a tad about the weirdness of the death of my mom, with now it just being time to move on.  And I did move on, today, entering the world of Apple by getting a MacBook laptop and now having to learn new stuff (like is it possible to plug in two headsets to the laptop and being able to control the volume of each microphone independently to record a podcast with Stu Gotz?), hoping I can come up with some cool iPhone application to make a lot of money (or at least about $3.00), and wondering about that "Boot Camp" thing to maybe set things up to run Windows on a Mac, which now that I think about it, just seems wrong.

This podcast also talks about my bowling prowess, at least when I entered college, at IIT, where The Unknown Reviewers were born, where for now the archives of Technology News, the campus newspaper, just hint at my greatness, at least on the bowling lanes.  Eventually, though, should be the article when I, The Dude on the Right, as well as The Dude on the Left, were born.  It will probably be funny, it might even be scary, and I do know, if they have them, one of the issues will also introduce a dude named Walt, as well as the exploits of one PBDB, and not to be forgotten will be the proliferation of the term "dudette."

I also talk a bit about politics for this podcast, you know, Barack Obama and John McCain, but why not, with the election being next Tuesday.  Go vote!

And with the archives of my old, campus newspaper coming online, in the words of The Dude on the Left, C.U. Next Thursday, or actually Monday for a podcast with Stu Gotz!

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! No More Hooters, Football, A Chihuahua, and More!

By: The Dude on the Right
Stu Gotz is back!  That's right, he's here in all his nasally glory for another episode of our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast.  With Stu back he tells of a birthday party for one of the Little Gotz's, complete with a trip for a group of little tykes to see "Beverly Hills Chihuahua."  Stu mentions if he liked the movie and also if it good for kids, that even though he saw it a while ago he didn't think "Speed Racer" was that bad, and hated the ending of "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People."  Movies aside, I tell Stu about my and the BFF's experience at Hooters which was simply supposed to be a to-go order of ten medium flavored wings which turned into a forty minute odyssey resulting in two giant orders of cold fries, two orders of blue cheese and celery, two large glasses of water, ten wings that had no sauce whatsoever, and a feeling that the BFF and I will not be visiting, at least not together, a Hooters anytime soon.

And if that isn't enough for fifteen minutes of conversation, Stu and I also discuss Mama Gotz wanting to sell Beanie Babies on eBay, guns for kids, a fake e-mail about Barak Obama dealing with The American Flag and The National Anthem (come on people, use snopes.com), and, ever so briefly, we talk about movies that will be opening this weekend.

Thanks for listening!

Stock Market Woes, Movies I Won't See, and Jillian Michaels' Inspirations of the Week.

By: The Dude on the Right
Okay, I admit, I've been a little lax in getting some new reviews posted, but that doesn't mean I have nothing to say, so here I am with another Thursday podcast.  Sure, I'm flustered that the stock market lost 679 points, but you know the saying - "Buy low.  Sell high."  Well, things are low, so it might be time to buy, unless, of course, things go lower, in that case you bought too soon.  I don't think anyone really understands the stock market, except maybe Warren Buffett, but then again, he likes to hang out in Key West drinking margaritas.  Oh, wait, that's Jimmy Buffett.  Actually, drinking margaritas might not be a bad idea right now if you look at your 401K, but don't worry, at least the boys of "South Park" are handling our worries about China and the raping of Indiana Jones.

There is a bastion of movies opening this weekend, which leads me into a rant that, thanks to an add in "Rolling Stone," I now have batteries to properly dispose of.  Maybe to dispose of them I should walk, or maybe jog, or maybe run, to the appropriate disposal place, but if I did try this I know I would want Jillian Michaels, the dudette trainer from "The Biggest Loser," to kick my ass to get there.

And so comes my transition to our new feature, which still needs a new title, but for now it's simply "Jillian Michaels' Inspirations of the Week."  Yup, she has sayings to get you through your exercise regimen, she has a saying to inspire you in your life, and and think a line from the first episode this season will remain a staple of this feature through this fall's run of "The Biggest Loser."

I guess I'll just wrap this up and say have a good weekend and thanks for listening!

Chicago Sports, Stu's Schnoz, Apples, and A Happy Faced Barn.

By: The Dude on the Right
Stu Gotz was worried about his ticker but found out it was only his giant nose, so I'm flying solo for this "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast, and even though my impression of Stu sucks, and I don't keep it going throughout the podcast (mostly because it would have probably been really annoying), I let you know what Stu sort of sounds like right now, or maybe not.  But this is a podcast about my weekend, and like many Chicagoans, it was a lot about sports.  Sure, the Chicago Cubs finalized their meltdown, with this year's team securing their history in Cub's lore as the team that made them not win a World Series in 100 years, and the Chicago Bears are actually looking good, and as a Kyle Orton athletic supporter, I was happy to see him do well, but were the Detroit Lions really a good indication of their Bear-ness?  And then there are the White Sox, breathing life into the hopes of Chicago baseball fans, or at least south-side fans, for another game.  The crappy part is that as I'm typing this, and recorded the podcast, the White Sox aren't doing well (in fact they lost), and I'm blaming their losing this series on the fact that the White Sox management people urged fans to wear black, but then gave the fans those dumb-ass, white, towels, which you might as well just call "Homer-Hankies," or something else gay like that, instead of refilling the order at "Bed, Bath & Beyond" for 40,000 black towels.  Blackouts only work when everything is black, and I hate to create my own conspiracy theory, but what the hell?  When the Chicago White Sox had their original "blackout" for the one game playoff, well, fans donned their black outfits, the fans were given black towels, and on TV it looked eerily cool, especially with Halloween coming.  Then came the playoffs, and on TV you know what looks contrasting?  People dressed in black while waving white towels.  Do you know who waves white towels?  Managers in the corners of a boxer, a boxer who is about to be pummeled beyond all recognition.  They don't throw in a black towel; they throw in a white towel, and that's what the White Sox fans are flailing above their heads during this game.  Black towels are south side Chicago - White towels are lame-asses.

Enough about sports and TV conspiracy theories, my weekend also included something way out of normalcy for me, thanks to my BFF, and it might be something both of us needed - a trip to do some apple picking, at some place called The Elegant Farmer, which plunged me into a world of wondering if people have fallen off of the hayride, why we kept getting in line at the donut shack only to have them run out of donuts, and I don't care how the apple people try to sell it - hail damaged apples look gross, I'm not putting them in my basket, and I have no idea how I didn't fall off of that ladder!

Most of my weekend was really about apple picking, so I'm sorry for the baseball rant, but in a bizarre way I thought the Chicago White Sox could actually pull off a second win, but with those dumb-ass white towels, the White Sox fans now look like every other dorky fan in the Major Leagues.  A blackout means black, that you are a bad-ass - white towels mean you give up.

And, oh yea, during this podcast I also tell how I might start a new spotlight dealing with "The Biggest Loser."

This is probably the longest synopsis for a fifteen minute podcast ever, but I can't believe both Chicago baseball teams sucked this bad.

Thanks for listening!

Elevator Etiquette, Duh, Steve Fossett Isn't Found Yet, and Simple Math.

By: The Dude on the Right
Sure, for this podcast, I could rant and rave about the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox losing both of their first games in the baseball playoffs, but something more important crept into my psyche today, and this might sound stupid, but it simply dealt with pushing a button in an elevator.  And speaking of stupid, well, there was a study done about people who eat at a Chinese buffet, and I just worry that I lost out on grant money for a study of "duh."  And speaking of studying, a hiker found some stuff that Steve Fossett owned while the dude was hiking, stuff that didn't burn up in the crash that has now been found, but where is the body of Steve Fossett, and is there any reward money for the dude or should he at least be able to keep the cash that he found? And speaking of cash, there's an e-mail going around about the bailout of AIG that would net adults in the United States $425,000 each, but the math is wrong.  No, you don't get $425,000 which might save you from your own financial crisis, you would actually get $425 which probably won't help you pay off your mortgage, might help you get into the world's crappiest college, you could buy a shitty car, or purchase about 1.08 shares of stock in Google should you decide to invest your windfall in the stock market.  Me, I'm not so much pissed that I'm not getting $425,000.00, I'm pissed I didn't think of writing that e-mail and let my sister disseminate it to the rest of the world.

Lastly, the PTC (that's the Parent's Television Council) is upset with CBS again.  You figure out why, but if you're a dudette or gay, you might just start TiVoing "Survivor: Gabon."

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! Lots of Movies, Sports, and Spelling Julio.

By: The Dude on the Right
Stu Gotz is back for a "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast, just in time to ruin the story of what I thought was a lovely moment at dinner with my BFF, at "Uncle Julio's Hacienda" (and you spell "Julio" with a "J" and not an "H", and the drink I thought was called something like "The Squirrel" is actually called "Swirl" , and they have way-good food), in Chicago, and he also explains that he doesn't know how to hang up his phone.

Dinner and a cell phone aside, the both of us saw some movies over the weekend, with Stu not liking the Jimmy Buffett-backed movie, "Hoot," that he saw on cable that much, my liking both "Eagle Eye" with Shia LaBeouf, in the theater and "The Hammer" with Adam Carolla, on DVD, and both myself and my BFF thinking "Ghost Town" with Ricky Gervais was too long.  Both Stu and I are happy the Chicago Bears won, and Stu gives his detailed analysis of the new design of the Chicago Tribune newspaper.  Thankfully he let me take his paper because my subscription is still on vacation hold and the store was sold out, although, since they were actually free today, wouldn't they have actually been free out?  And me, I also give Stu my quick analysis of my TV viewing, complete about "Dancing With the Stars," "Survivor: Gabon," and "The Biggest Loser: Families."

Anyway, what would a timely podcast be without my impersonation of Tina Fey impersonating Sarah Palin on "Saturday Night Live," with the both of us amazed at Tina Fey's impersonation of Sarah Palin, though Stu was not amazed at my impersonation of Tina Fey impersonating Sarah Palin.

Remote Control Madness, "Survivor: Gabon," and Who's to Blame?

By: The Dude on the Right
Who knew that buying a new TV would send my life into a remote control meltdown, but for this podcast, as much as I'm happy I have my new HDTV, all of a sudden I have realized that my way-cool Philips Pronto remote control, that works through walls, needs to be reprogrammed, and if any of you know a good location to get hex remote codes (I used to have a link through Premise Systems, but I guess they are gone), I would greatly appreciate an e-mail with where to go.  Sure, this last sentence probably means absolutely nothing to most of you, but to us remote control programming nuts, trust me, it makes total sense.

But my lame remote control woes aside, TV is starting to kick into high gear, especially with "Survivor: Gabon" starting tonight, and yes, I'm still watching Survivor, much to the worrisome of my BFF.  I have to say I haven't gotten sucked back into "Dancing With the Stars," but I am back on board for "The Biggest Loser: Families" and "Heroes."  The tricky part about T.V., though, right now, is that The Chicago Cubs have secured a playoff spot, the Chicago White Sox are letting the end of this season be a nail-biter, and even though I now have five ways to record shows, sports are always best watched live.  And I don't have my programmable remote set up to help me with any of this yet.

Lastly, there's also some blame to go around for a change in my weekend plans, and who better to blame than a country.

Thanks for listening!

Bears, Emmy's, T.V., TiVo, and No "Buddy Christ" Explanation.

By: The Dude on the Right
Yup, I'm totally on my game.  Not.  I open this podcast simply stating "The Buddy Christ is back where he belongs, and Stu Gotz, isn't here.", and do I explain?  Maybe I explain a little about Stu, but other than during the opening there is no other mention of "The Buddy Christ," who is now back, where he belongs, after a "leaning over" issue that sent a candle, speaker, mouse charger, and The Buddy Christ careening to the floor.  Things were picked up, though something seemed to be missing, and all of a sudden I realized my Buddy was missing.  There he was, on the floor, behind the podcast computer, so I used my "Bull Penis" putter to wrangle him out of a mess of cables, and now, The Buddy Christ, is back where he belongs!  This is such a longer story than I can relate in a preamble to a podcast summary.

But enough about something I don't talk about during this podcast, I lonely-ing talk about my disgruntleness with The Chicago Bears, how The Emmy's still suck, and as this TV season begins, and my BFF only knows me from my summer, mostly miscellaneous T.V. viewing, she might just be in for the shock of her life come this Fall Season.  Yup, I've got a new TV, one of those newfangled HDTV's, and now I might need another new TiVo, which might not be bad a bad idea so I can actually record all of the shows I want to, in HD, or move my computer bunker, but for now I'm just torn what Monday night shows should end up on my TiVo Season Pass, between "Heroes," "The Big Bang Theory," "How I Met Your Mother," "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," "Dancing With the Stars," and next week "Chuck" comes back to really throw a monkey-wrench into the mix.

I've got three, boring, normal, TiVo tuners, so I'm still studying the TV schedule as I type this, but it looks like "Dancing With the Stars" will get the boot, for now, because if Cloris Leachman does fall down, I know it will be on YouTube.  And don't get me started about my Thursday TiVo-ing, with the premiers of "Survivor: Gabon," "My Name is Earl," and, to be able to talk with my BFF, I might have to fit "Grey's Anatomy" in my TiVo-ing!

A blog might come later about TiVo-ing "The Biggest Loser: Families," but maybe I should watch that when I wake up and groggily get on my exercise bike.

What I would almost give for another writer's strike right now.

Hurricane Ike talk with The W.G.N. gets decimated by the tornado that is The W.F.N.

By: The Dude on the Right
I had every intention of this podcast being somewhat calm with The W.G.N., us talking about Hurricane Ike and its effect on his life, maybe some sports, but then a tornado infiltrated our lives, namely The W.F.N., (that would be the World's Fantastical Niece), and as she worried about my concern for her well-being, The W.F.N. tells me her plans after high school, sort of, and I think I've decided that she might have a comedian side to her, not as Steven Wright, but a twisted cross between Lisa Lampanelli and Mitch Hedberg (and yes, that's a huge compliment).  If she isn't too busy being a high school senior, and if she's up for it, I might have to add a third podcast with her for the week.

But as the reigns were pulled back in, or rather The W.F.N. gave the headset back to The W.G.N., things get back to sports, including the Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros, and some football talk.  And as I petition for another Twitter follower, I also talk some college talk with The World's Greatest Nephew about my being an asshole and a communist.

At the end of it all I'm just glad my family weathered the Hurricane Ike storm, but wonder if I can handle future podcasts with the tornado that is The W.F.N.

Thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! Rain, Movies, TV, and A Loud Starbucks.

By: The Dude on the Right
So Stu Gotz calls me and says, "Dude, I can't meet you at my place, so let's do our 'Weekend Wrap-Up!' podcast at the Starbucks in Bolingbrook, IL."  I should have known better, because I've met Stu at that coffee shop before, and the music is always WAY loud, but rather than doing another solo podcast, oh, I thought, "What the hell?  Let's give it a try!"  At least we get background music.

But loud, Starbucks' music aside, our podcast deals with talk of rain, because here in the Midwest we got tons of rain.  Sure, it wasn't as much rain as those folks in Texas, with Hurricane Ike making landfall over the weekend and my sister almost getting thrown out into the storm (a topic for a future podcast with The W.G.N.), but one must wonder if God, or maybe the Devil, or who is Mother Nature anyway, might be pissed at us, and I think those people who "stuck it out" in Galveston should be left to fend for themselves.  Sure, that's a segue into some religion talk, but with the rain, both of our weekends dealt with some movies having Stu catch "3:10 To Yuma" via his Netflix queue, and my seeing "Burn After Reading" at the theater and "I Want Someone to Eat Cheese" thanks to my Netflix queue, both with my BFF.  Stu is freaked by a "Joe's Crab Shack" commercial, I got to see Carlos Zambrano pitch a no-hitter, and Stu is excited about his cable TV shows finishing up while I have TiVo setting up to do as "The Biggest Loser," "Heroes," "Chuck," and nearly every other show I love to watch on TV starts up in the next couple of weeks.

And we both thought Tina Fey was great as Sarah Palin, yet Michael Phelps, not so great as most of anything (except his "diet" skit) on Saturday Night Live this past weekend.

I Hate Ike, Getting Shot, Forgetting "The Goonies," and Remembering The World Trade Center

By: The Dude on the Right
It's another solo podcast this time, mostly because I didn't want The W.G.N. delaying his getting out of Dodge, or at least Houston, what with Hurricane Ike barreling down on the area like a lipsticked pig would be drawn to mud, in order to be a part of, well, my discussing getting shot, September 11th, and if you can actually put lipstick on a pig.  Oh, hell, I can't even figure out the controversy with the Barack Obama lipstick thing because if anyone thinks he was calling Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin a pig, well, are you stupid?  She's the furthest thing from a "pig" that we have ever probably had running for Vice President.

But this podcast isn't a lot about politics, I do explain a dream I had last night where I got shot even though I was just trying to help, about my forgetting the movie "The Goonies," and on the anniversary of September 11th, today being Patriot Day and all, for whatever reason I flipped through an old scrapbook and remembered that I had actually been at the top of The World Trade Center, back in 1985, and have a picture that can never be taken from the spot I was standing in ever again.  Weirdly, it took me too long to remember this.

Bears Win!, A Dead TV, The MTV VMA's, and no Stu Gotz.

By: The Dude on the Right
Okay, fine, I don't really talk about the MTV Video Music Awards that much during this podcast mostly because I thought Britney Spears' opening was kind of lame, and I was more distraught about my TV taking a crap about four months before I really wanted to buy a new one.  But hey, at least I was sadly able to watch the Cleveland Browns get their asses kicked and happily saw most of the Chicago Bears kicking ass before I fell asleep on my couch, in front of my little TV that I had to bring up from my basement area to my living room.  In case you can't tell, this TV thing is really pissing me off, especially since a $1.00 fuse from Radio Shack, and my risking life and limb, didn't fix the damn thing.

The worst part?  Stu Gotz isn't in town to do our "Weekend Wrap-Up!", so I've got no one to really bitch to about my TV, nor have someone to convince me to spend money I don't have on something like a monster, 65" LCD TV.

And now, with my TV worries in front of me, I've also got to worry if my BFF will want to see "The Women" at the movies (and by the way, I thought the new version of "At The Movies," without Richard Roeper, sucked, but that's a podcast for another time), this weekend, instead of Brad Pitt in "Burn After Reading."  Who wouldn't want to see Brad Pitt get punched in the nose by John Malkovich?

Thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! Cheese Curls, Google Chrome, A Favorite Shirt, and More!

By: The Dude on the Right
I was a little worried about seeing Stu Gotz for this "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast because as much as my Labor Day weekend was very fulfilling, well, it wasn't that much exciting, and I figured Stu was going to be the person to show that my weekend vacation exploits were lame.  Little did I know that Stu decided that painting projects around the house were the order of the weekend for the Gotz family, that seeing Stu in his "most comfortable shirt" from Long Beach Island, NJ, might give me ideas for "easy access" nightwear for both dudes and dudettes, and while I got my BFF addicted to the tastiest cheese curls in the world, those "Snyder of Berlin Cheese Curls" (and I still can't believe the Snyder folks haven't sent me a free case to eat, I mean give away, thus solidifying my legend as the Midwest "dealer," giving the rest of the world their "free" taste), Stu recommends some musical accompaniment for the podcast when I have "trips to the 'Old Country.'"

Sure, we talk about snacks, we talk about Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, and we talk about things left in hymnals at church, and we even talk about Google Chrome.  I'd like to say we don't talk about "Tropic Thunder," but Stu just can't resist, and please, send all comments about "Slut or Whore" to stu@entertainmentavenue.com

Thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! The Democratic Convention, Dancing With the Stars, and Disney Disappoints a Gotz.

By: The Dude on the Right
I have to admit that new postings got derailed a bit with my trip to the old country, but I'm not apologizing, I'm just saying.  I'm also saying that Stu Gotz and I got back together for a "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast, and in the last couple of weeks there has only been a couple of things to witness in the mainstream media, namely The Olympics and talk of the upcoming Democratic Convention.  Wouldn't you know it, both of us are happy that The Olympics (and Michael Phelps talk) are over, and now we both wonder if Hillary Clinton can pull off total "C"-word-dom during the convention (a word Stu heard this weekend, from an unlikely source).  Me, though, I really hope that Barack Obama stops drunk texting me at odd hours in the morning with his "pick" for Vice President of Joe Biden, and he would finally text me the truth - that Hillary Clinton is his running mate, if only for the shear newsworthiness for the next five years.

Politics aside, Stu ruins my pronouncement of the latest contestants of "Dancing With the Stars" for this podcast, there's a marriage that was done, I had to pee and didn't want to cut my wiener, and one of the Little Gotz's gets some disappointment and doesn't understand how the "movie" world works thanks to the changing of the release date of Disney's "Beverly Hills Chihuahua"  from his birthday weekend, to, well, October 3rd.  With Little Gotz's dreams now crushed, the next thing you know he'll be asking Daddy Gotz to watch "The Bad Lieutenant.  Like Father, Like Son.

Even with my trip to the old country, both of our weekends were kind of boring.  Since I don't know if I'll get a podcast posted this Thursday (we'll see if I can get things together with The W.G.N.), I hope your upcoming Labor Day weekend is more exciting, especially, well, if you end up in labor.  Screw the workers - birthing babies is really about labor, at least so I'm told, read, or see in the movies.  Happy labor!  Or just enjoy the day, and think about working, or having a baby.

Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up! A Long Life, Beautiful People, Car Crashes, and More!

By: The Dude on the Right
The Blue Angels at the Chicago Air & Water ShowThis podcast episode of "Stu & The Dude's Weekend Wrap-Up!" opens, and sort of closes, with how to live a long life, care of Ernest Borgnine, although it might not cause you to prosper.  But living a long life wasn't a part of mine nor Stu Gotz's weekend, instead, I risked my life, and the life of my BFF, by going to the "Chicago Air and Water Show," where I sort of wished I were part of "The Beautiful People" crowd, though I'm also happy that I wasn't a part of "The Beautiful People" crowd, because, well, they can be assholes.  Thankfully no airplanes crashed on us, and thanks to my BFF my feet only got a little red because I'm starting to think she might be the smart one of our duo.

Meanwhile, in risking lives, Stu risked his life, and learned a lot about car crashes, boobs, and mullets, by taking the Gotz family to a Demolition Derby, he still has dude-love for Minor League Baseball with a bachelor party night out with Officer G, and of course is still watching cable TV series, and comments about "Psych."

Buckingham Fountain in Chicago, at NightWe are both tired of The Olympics and Michael Phelps, although Stu is still watching women's beach volleyball while I'm watching fencing, I recommend The Buckingham Fountain light and music show in Chicago to Stu, and the both of us recommend seeing the movie "Tropic Thunder."  Stu also thinks if you are totally dedicated to Starbucks, well, getting a tattoo of their logo on your arm might just show your love for your coffee, though might not advance you in the company.

And lastly, Stu found out about the new Lara Croft (although, as I researched her for this podcast after we recorded this episode, Alison Carroll is not the new "movie" Lara, she's the new "video game" Lara - Stu, get your story straight before you try and brag about something I try to think I know about), and I tell Stu that there is one reason why I don't like my iPhone, and Stu found out why.

Thanks for listening!

The Chicago Air & Water Show, "Tropic Thunder," Mark Your Calendars, and The Olympics!

By: The Dude on the Right
I'm flying solo for this podcast, hoping that The W.G.N. doesn't hate me now, but I wanted to get it done early so that I could watch Michael Phelps, tonight, win another gold medal, thus getting him one more gold medal closer to beating Mark Spitz.  I just wonder if Michael Phelps could win those gold medals wearing the sleek and stylish, red white & blue, bathing suit of Mr. Spitz?

Now as much as this podcast has some talk about The Olympics, about my wondering about the fakery of the Chinese, about being grossed out by a weightlifting injury that I can't find the video, only some photos, for, and my dedication to the sport of fencing but not women's beach volleyball, I also give you some dates to mark on your calendar, thanks to the return of "Entourage" and when "Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince" will be in movie theaters.

More importantly, though, for this podcast, I am stoked for seeing the Chicago Air and Water Show, which happens this weekend, and even though it sort of signals the end of summer, as an Aerospace Engineer, and someone who would have seriously considered flight school back in the day if I had 20/20 vision rather than 10/400, I just love the sights and sounds of aircraft.

And, oh yea, even though we are planning a "Stu & The Dude Reviewin' the Movies for You!" episode of "Tropic Thunder," I give you my take on the movie during this podcast (Hint: Go and see it!), how anytime I hear Flo Rida's "Low" that a different image will enter my head, and if you don't see the movie, well, you must be a reta$#, umm, never mind, I don't want to get boycotted.  Oh wait, maybe I do.

Anyway, thanks for listening!
