A Preview by
The Dude on the Right
She, Helen, (Rene Russo) has ten kids. He, Frank, (Dennis Quaid) has eight kids. They’re both widowed, they meet, then fall in love. He’s got a military background. She’s more of a free spirit. Now they are a family of 20, and hilarity ensues when the kids band together because they don’t like the new living arrangements.

This is a re-make of a 1968 version that starred Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda, and once again Hollywood can’t seem to come up with anything on their own. Sure, they update it for the 2000’s, and I suppose for your Thanksgiving season it will probably be a good one for the family, but sometimes maybe it’s better to step back and not do a dysfunctional family movie. I like Rene Russo and Dennis Quaid, and Quaid looks to do alright from the trailer, but Rene doesn’t seem to be any Lucille Ball, which sadly, she will mostly likely be compared against.

We’ll see on this one, but it does have one thing going against it, namely “Harry Potter” opens the weekend before, but at least it’s only opening day competition is “Rent.”

That’s it for this preview! I’m The Dude on the Right!! L8R!!!
