Hmmm? A release date of December 19th? Julia Roberts in a
role that empowers women rather than let them go for their Mrs. Degree
while in college? Add a Dunst, Stiles, and Gyllenhall for a stellar
supporting cast? It must be Oscar time.
Granted this looks like a total chick flick, but I’ll surmise it’s
going to one pretty good chick flick. Pretty much you’ve got Julia
playing a professor in a hoity-toity dudette college. Sure, it’s a
great school when it comes to academics, but this is really a place
where you groom yourself to be Mrs. Hoity-Toity. Julia isn’t one to
just see the girls married off, she wants the young women to make more
of themselves, i.e. get out in the real world instead of settling down
in a big mansion.
It does look like a good movie, and it’s got some of my favorite
dudettes, so I’ll probably see it if I get a couple of hours during my
busy holiday season.
