Okay, last trip to the Buzz stage, I promise. The last band to grace the stage of Buzz was Filter. Filter Photo 1 I guess you would call them the headliner on the lesser stage. So, I pushed my way through the rain and muck that was building on the ground, back over to catch the featured act. Filter came out and sounded a bit flat, or maybe it was just my ears, I couldn't quite tell at this point in time. Eight bands may have deafened my hearing, but I don't think so to the extent as the band played at, but hey, I ain't a doctor, but I play one on TV. Filter was comprised of a bunch of dudes that just seemed like a hodge podge of garage type band members. I guess you would call em your typical grunge styled band, or at least that is how they came off. From the loss in sound to the fact that they just didn't carry the energy from Korn on, I don't think Filter did a very good job of gaining the full attention of the crowd. But given the rain, most everyone stuck around to listen to Filter, or maybe it was just to hear em play theirFilter Photo 2 Q101 hit wonder, "Hey Man, Nice Shot," which of course they played last. I guess I can't really penalize Filter for letting down the energy, I would have to just comment that there might have been a better way to arrange the bands so that we didn't keep losing this energy. It was almost tiring to go from the up tempo music of No Doubt, to Garbage or Korn, to Filter, but hey, that is just me. Well, Filter did indeed close with "Hey Man, Nice Shot" and it was okay. I still hate sampled music, but the crowd really picked back up when they heard the familiar rifts from that tune start up. So, I am gonna give Filter a Shrug. Kinda of a bad way to close out the Buzz stage but what can ya do?? (I'm back - Dude on the Right here - Once again, I must disagree with Big Cooter. Filter's style of music is just different, and although possible to arrange the bands in order of tempo, oh please. The crowd loved Filter, even in the rain, and even though I might not like Filter that much, the rain-soaked crowd, even with the slower tempo, seemed to not stop, and no matter what Big Cooter thinks, I'm giving Filter Two Thumbs Up on the ability to maintain the crowd in the rain.)
