The Dude on the Right’s “American Idol” Wrap-Up. The Dude Liked Katharine’s Dress; The Dude’s Mom, not so Much.

By:

The Dude on the Right

I was lax in getting a latest "Stu & The Dude Weekend Wrap-Up" coordinated, but
at least here is my "American
Idol
" wrap-up.  I didn’t think

Katharine
was nearly as bad as the judges made her out to be, although maybe
I was too busy waiting for something to pop out of her dress.  I do think
she has the entire package to be an Idol, but think she smiles and mugs too much
for the camera.  I’m tired of

Kellie Pickler
, and really don’t think she is as "I’m scared" as she
pretends to be.  My mom is still a

Taylor
fan, but for me, the entertainment portion of this show has really
come down to Paula Abdul, described by

Christina Filiaggi
(ignore the bio, head to the link for the "sailor suit
picture") as "2 AM in a bar."  Because I hate to steal a quote as good as
that one, she’s on
The Roe
Conn Show
, here in Chicago.

The Dude on the Right’s “American Idol” Wrap-Up for the Sing-a-Queen-Song Episode.

By:

The Dude on the Right

This is my "American Idol"
recap for the music of
Queen
episode, which wasn’t quite the disaster I thought it would be,
although no one totally stepped-up to the level of performer
Freddie
Mercury
was.  I’m also getting more and more concerned about

Chris
and his being truthful about things although I can’t totally blame him
this week, part of that also goes to
Brian May.  That is
as long as the internet information is correct.  Why?  You’ll have to
listen to the podcast, which also includes my "Paula Clips of the Week!"
I’ve got to come up with some fun sounding audio for when I announce the "Paula
Clips of the Week," but for now it’s just the clips.

Happy
listening!

The Dude on the Right’s “American Idol” Recap for March 28th.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Well I did it, completed another wrap-up and analysis of "American Idol."
This was for the March 28th broadcast where the theme of the night was songs of
the 21st Century, and by the contestant’s choices, you would think the the music
of the 21st Century pretty much sucks.  Lisa Tucker underwent a drastic
make-over, Chris may have lost all of his rocker street cred by doing a Creed
song, and someone else needs to pick out the clothes for Katherine.  My
choice for getting booted off this week is Bucky, which if my picks in the
previous weeks are any indication, Bucky should be safe.

Even if you don’t
want to listen to all of my rambling comments about the specific contestants, at
least fast-forward to my "Paula Abdul Clips of the Show," and how sort of like
that radio dude in St. Louis had a slip of the tongue, so did Paula.  I did
some audio analysis, and I just hope Paula doesn’t lose her job over it,
although it might open up Fox to some more FCC fines.

The Dude on the Right’s “American Idol” Recap for March 21st.

By:

The Dude on the Right

This podcast is my recap of Tuesday’s "American Idol" episode.  We’ll see
how things turn out, but I’m not seeing things as too good for
Lisa,
and I’m hoping that Kevin gets the boot soon, but it would be kind of
entertaining to see him stick around as the person everyone can’t stand.
As far as Chris, I did like his version of "I Walk the Line," and like everyone
else, thought it was original, until I woke up this morning and found out it was
a version done by the band "Live."  The podcast includes a nice version by
version comparison of "Live" vs. Chris, and wraps-up with my favorite Paula
Abdul moments of the show.

An “American Idol” Recap, and some FCC Fine Rantings.

By:

The Dude on the Right

I was going to write a blog on this, but for the sake of expedience, I decided
to do a long-winded podcast.  First off I give you my incredible recap of
last night’s "American
Idol
" performances, hoping that Kevin, a.k.a. "Chicken Little" gets sent
home tonight, and how sick I am of

Kellie Pickler
and her dumb-blonde attitude, that, and the fact, that if you
aren’t familiar with Stevie Wonder, you don’t deserve to be on "American Idol."

Mostly, though, this podcast deals with the recent

FCC rulings
, giving a penalty to a community college TV station broadcasting
a documentary about the blues, how FOX got lucky with the 2003 Billboard Awards,
where Nicole Richie dropped both the S-Bomb and the F-Bomb, because the FCC
didn’t reverse the ruling on Bono’s F-Bomb, calling any utterance of the word
"fuck" indecent, until 2004, how
Oprah
is still untouchable it seems, and the absurdity of a complaint about
Chris Rock hosting "The Academy Awards."  Then, of course, they hit CBS, it
seems their favorite target, with a $3.6 million penalty for an episode of "Without
a Trace
."  Yes, that’s right, "Without a Trace."

In the end I’m
calling for new guidelines for filing a complaint, namely that when you send in
said complaint, you have to swear to your God, and on the lives of your children
and loved ones, that you actually watched the show you were offended by.

Chairman Martin
wrote that "the number of complaints received by the
Commission has risen year after year.  They have grown from hundreds, to
hundreds of thousands."  My guess, and it’s just my guess, but hundreds of
thousands of those complaints are nearly identical, form letters sent by e-mail,
by a couple of groups, disbursed to their e-mail lists, wanting the government
to be the parents that parents can’t seem to be.  I say you can’t file a
complaint unless you watched a show and it offended you, not that someone told
you it was offensive and to file a complaint.

Alright, my podcast went on too
long, and this podcast recap is even too long, damn.  Oh, wait, can I use
the word "damn?"  I don’t know.  Shit?  No, wait, I was using
"shit" as a question of wonder, not about poop.  Oh, no, can I use the word
"poop?"  Fuck?  Wait, that’s a question of wonder as well, not meaning
"screwing."  Oh, no, can I use the word "screwing?"  I guess I’m just
glad that I’m not a network broadcaster because how can four or five people
decide what should or should not be seen on TV or heard on radio.  My
feeling is that the public decides, by watching or listening, and the networks
obey by having shows run or canceling shows quickly.  I’ve got to end this
now and watch "Survivor" and the "American Idol" vote-off show.  Hopefully
neither the FCC, nor the
PTC, start deciding who
gets voted off of those shows, and if our government decides they should start
regulating things like satellite radio, especially my
Howard Stern listening,
which has been hinted at, they will have to deal with my wrath.  Alright, I
have no wrath, but I’ll be pissed.  No, wait, I was using "pissed" as
meaning I was upset, not about pee.  Oh, no, can I use the word "pee?"
Fuck?

Yay! “The Sopranos” Are Back, Edgar & Chef – Sorry to See You Go, and Does Bird Flu Mean We Can Kill the Canadian Geese?

By:

The Dude on the Right

Stu Gotz is still out of town, waylaid by the weather, so no weekend wrap-up
again, just me rambling about some things as I am want to do.  This podcast
episode starts with a quick talk about the return of "The
Sopranos.
"  I am so glad they are back, and back in a great way.
TV’s also been great lately on other fronts, especially on "24"
where they threw Edgar under the bus, much to my surprise.  In the end, I
justified that he deserved it.  If you didn’t read about it yet, Isaac
Hayes, a.k.a. "Chef" from "South
Park
" has quit the series.  Yup, he’s a Scientologist, and, it seems,
not saying it directly, but I’m guessing he wasn’t too fond of the "Trapped in
the Closet" episode.  Too bad, I really liked him.

Lastly I talk a little
bit about the bird flu, and hoping that this means we can now kill
Canadian
Geese
, because, if not, they are destined to take over the world.

Feeling Under the Weather, at Least “American Idol” is Finally Down to Twelve.

By:

The Dude on the Right

I’ve been a little under the weather lately, but it sounds like a lot of other
folks out there are feeling the same.  Maybe we’re just waiting for spring
to finally get here, and it’s the end of winter blues, or it’s some weird cold
that is just going around, but in any case, that’s limited my postings, at least
since my

Academy Award Recap Podcast
, so mostly I’ve just been doing some
behind-the-scenes work like standardizing the animation for "Stu
& The Dude Reviewin’ the Movies for You!
", playing with better ways to get
TV audio clips incorporated into podcasts, and just trying to get my vim and
vigor back.  Thankfully, for my viewing pleasure, there was a fantastic
episode of "24"
last Monday, and of course I’m sucked into "American
Idol
" which is great background while trying to do other stuff.  I
guess it’s kind of appropriate then, that as I type this blog entry, on the TV
above my computer is "American Idol" as they widdle it down to the final twelve.
Don’t worry, though, my TiVo is recording "Survivor:
Exile Island
," and thankfully, "Smallville"
is a re-run this week so that doesn’t play into my TV viewing.

As far as
"American Idol" goes, I’ve been developing my favorites and my least favorites,
but for now there are still just too many people to remember them all.
There’s the dude labeled as "Chicken
Little" or "Egghead
" on the message boards, there are the other dudes I call
"The
Bald, Rocker Dude
," "The
Smiley Dude
," "The
Old, Gray-Haired Dude
," "The
‘Girls Think He’s Dreamy’ Dude
," "The
Country Dude Who’s Not Bo Bice,
" and then there are a few others not really
impressing me yet.  On the dudette side, a lot of them are grouped together
for me at this point, and I was an initial fan of the
16
and
17-yeal
old, cute, black dudettes with the kick-ass voice, but lately they’ve been
lacking.  Also, I’m not buying that

Kellie
is as "dumb-blondish" as she is portraying herself, the "Basketball
Dudette
" is good but lacks some stage presence, and in not being anything
close to politically correct, the
larger
black dudette
is as good as Aretha Franklin, but half the size.  The
one I’m liking most, though, is

Katharine
, especially since I can remember her name and she seems a little
more real than Kellie, and she’s got a great smile.

As I’m finishing up this
blog, I have no idea how Chicken Little, I mean Kevin, is still in this (he just
got told he’s in the final twelve) other than he’s getting the Anti-Idol vote,
or he just is appealing to, well, I don’t know who he appealing to (someone,
please, if you know, give me a hint, please, because my comments on my notepad,
as he started singing "Vincent" were ‘He got three words out and I instantly
thought he should be gone after tonight’, and yet, he’s still there).

Anyway,
"American Idol" is wrapping up tonight and it’s adios Kinnik (not really a
surprise), The Basketball Dudette (Ayla – but I thought Lisa and Paris weren’t
as up to par as her this time, and she seemed to be the most bummed of all to
get booted off the island, I mean Idol), Will (his boyish charm couldn’t
overcome his lack of stage presence), and The Smiley Dude (Gedeon – he should
have gotten to the final twelve over Kevin or Elliot).

Thankfully Idol is back
to it’s normal two nights a week starting next week, being Tuesdays and
Wednesdays, because I was really getting concerned if "Smallville" started
having new episodes.  I’m still able to easily juggle two of my favorite
shows at the same time, three is a little tougher, and four puts me into panic
mode (you have no idea how much "The Olympics" put me in a tailspin.  I
know, I should just spend the damn money on, like, four or five more TiVo boxes.
Do you think if I mention TiVo a few more times they might just send me a few
boxes with lifetime subscriptions for the hell of it if I just keep mentioning
TiVo because TiVo is the greatest thing to hit television since, well,
television).  Well, even with all of my professing how great TiVo is, I
doubt any free things are coming my way, so, in any case, I’ll just have to keep
juggling, TiVo’ing, VCR’ing, live watching, or just waiting for the non-reality
shows to pop back up in reruns.  Damn, I hate TV.

Our Podcast: An Academy Award Wrap-Up – Jon Stewart was Great, and The Academy Still Doesn’t Get It.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Stu Gotz is out of town so we don’t have a weekend wrap-up this time, just my
take on The Academy Award’s
broadcast.  As I was jotting down notes during the broadcast, with
brilliant thoughts like "I was rooting for
Paul Giamatti
to win for Best Supporting Actor because he was great in ‘Cinderella
Man
,’ but also to see if he would thank
Howard Stern," and Jon
Stewart’s line "Pimp, sort of like an agent but with a better hat," I realized I
probably just should have done a blog about the entire thing, but in any case, I
thought

Jon Stewart
was great, considering the crowd he was in front of.  I
also liked Rachel
Weisz
‘s boobs and loved the acceptance speech from
Three 6 Mafia
Also, it still seems The Academy folks still don’t get it by chastising us, the
movie public, for renting/buying DVD’s and not going to the theater to see the
films, and by cutting off the speeches of the winners.  And if they do that
"music under the winner’s speeches even before they talked too long" thing again
next year, I might just have to stage a boycott.

Thanks for listening and reading, and as always I welcome your comments.

Our Podcast: A Contest to Win Stuff, Fun Audio, “The Bachelor” Finale, and Radio Shack Lamenting.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Finally a podcast that just isn’t about Stu Gotz and me talking about our
weekend.  First for this podcast is a contest.  It’s pretty simple,
identify the opening theme music and you might win a shirt or cap.  Send
your guess with the artist, song title, and original album the song was on to
contest@entertainmentavenue.com,
and if you are one of the first to do so, I’ll send you, at random, either an
Entertainment Ave! golf shirt or a hat.  You don’t have to send me your
address with your guess, but if you are right, and I’ve still got hats or
shirts left, I’ll e-mail you back asking for your address.  The contest is
only open to those in the continental United States, over the age of 13, and I’d
prefer you only send me your guess if you don’t personally know me.

This
podcast also has some fun audio I was collecting, how I was sort of sad I didn’t
watch "The
Bachelor
" this season although I found the audio fantastic, and some
lamenting at the struggles

Radio Shack
is facing.

Thanks for listening and reading, and as always I welcome your comments.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up: Animation, a Bachelor Party, and “Dancing with the Stars.”

By:

The Dude on the Right

My weekend was mostly about animating for our next "Stu
& The Dude Reviewin’ the Movies for You!
" but for this episode we discuss a
couple of things.  There’s some talk about my boring weekend, an upcoming
contest where you might get a chance to win cool stuff, and Stu’s bachelor party
weekend that didn’t turn out as cool as it sounded on paper.  Stu’s also
getting old, and I also talk about not having some TV shows to watch anymore,
namely "Dancing
with the Stars
" and the Olympics, but damn "American
Idol
," it’s now on three times a week and is really messing with my Thursday
night TV viewing.

Thanks for listening and reading, and as always I welcome your comments.
