Hide the kids, put on the headphones, and don’t play this “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast at work because Stu Gotz can’t stand a star that is dancing (psst, it’s Kate Gosselin) and uses language that only an 11 year old girl would use, that is if the 11 year old girl was in a movie called “Kick-Ass.” Me, I tell Stu some of the words that the 11 year old girl uses, and also if the movie is any good (I loved it). Also along the movie front, Stu, for reasons I’m still not sure, watched “The Yearling” with Gregory Peck and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” with Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra, and I’m really getting worried about Stu.

We also chat a bit about the Chicago Blackhawks as they are in the race for The Stanley Cup, Stu gives his “expert” opinion about Ke$ha while I explain my desire to be a Ke$ha back-up dancer, I fill Stu in on a pizza joint in Chicago called Great Lake that has the “best” pizza in America (somehow I compare it to seeing an artsy movie), both of us are now addicted to Zynga’s latest Facebook creation, Treasure Isle, and I wonder if Stu, being the dive-dork that he is, has seen the video of the octopus that stole some dude’s camera that is propogating the Twitter universe (hey, go ahead and follow me at @dudeonright). Also, there’s a dirty Starbuck’s bathroom, and it’s in the Andersonville neighborhood in Chicago in case you want to avoid it.

All of that and more, if all of that’s not enough. Thanks for listening!

Curling is Coming, A Gay Protest, Valentine’s Day is Over, and The Dude Sings (Badly).

For this episode of our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast I get to explain to Stu Gotz why my BFF is the best Valentine’s Day gift-giver ever! Stu also had a nice day, although his day involved an escapade in getting some tea and an urge to beat down an older lady. Calmness did prevail, and maybe that’s because both Stu and I, well, Stu more than I, are getting into the Winter Olympics. He got into the competition right at the get-go, while I’m waiting for the curling competition to begin because nothing screams "winter" like brooms and a big stone. Both of us, though, did catch some and most of the opening ceremonies and give our related critiques.

As the podcast continues, the Winter Olympics will be putting a damper in both of our TV viewing schedule, my BFF and I saw "Avatar" over the weekend, and she liked it, and Stu wondered if the BFF and I went to church on Sunday at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago in time to take part in the protest of the gay coalition against the Catholic church. I tell Stu of the death of Doug Fieder from The Knack, Stu will be giving a diving presentation at Our World Underwater this weekend, I sing badly, neither of really want to see "Shutter Island," Stu gives his religious views (send your complaints to stugotz@entertainmentavenue.com or comment below), and I won’t be getting Jimmy Buffett tickets. So much to talk about… So little time!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Lots of Traffic, New Spectacles, No Funny, and a Lazy Sunday.

By:

Sure, in Chicago they say there are only two seasons, winter and construction, and usually it is construction season that causes all of the traffic delays, but Stu Gotz tells me during our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast that there is another form of traffic, related solely to the reemergence of football season, and he was just lucky he was heading out of Bourbonnais, Illinois, when training camp for the Chicago Bears started. He also had some traffic woes when he was going to pick up Mama Gotz, but luckily he had some gorgeous weather for a diving excursion. Me, I was chastised by my local optometrist who wondered how I was getting contacts for all of these years without a prescription, and I told him I didn’t realize it was that long since I got my eyes examined because 1-800-CONTACTS would just send me an e-mail asking if I needed a refill, I told them yes, and low and behold – more contacts. I also told Stu about a nice time that was had by all at the Grand Opening my BFF held, how Sunday was lazy without any movie watching, although thanks to "The Soup" on E! I found out my brother was in Key West and got to hang with Al Roker on the Today Show. That’s him, sitting behind Al. Sort of wish I had known and set my TiVo. Oh well.

Since neither Stu nor I saw "Funny People" last weekend, maybe next week we’ll both try to catch "G.I. Joe." Stu, though, did see "G-Force," and lets you know during the podcast if it’s good for kids, and maybe adults as well.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! The SCUBA Junkman, Lawn Maintenance, Mini-Cornhole-ing, and Transformers!

By:

The Dude on the Right

I must apologize because somehow our podcast was possessed by Rush Limbaugh, or actually AM 890 here in Chicago, with it just mysteriously invading our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast recording, but Stu and I plow through some technical difficulties for fun and good times under the sun and in the theater. With the weather nice and my BFF needing some lawn work done, I am more than happy to let Stu know that at that time, the John Deere sprinkler was working as advertised. So, as I was getting some sun, Stu was hawking some old SCUBA stuff he had, and lucky for him he did his selling before the SCUBA junkman showed up. And with the nice weekend here in Chicago, Stu was able to spend some quality time with the little Gotz’s playing the bean bag game (no, Stu didn’t cornhole his kids), and me, I took cover with the BFF to see "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." I tell Stu if he should see the movie, he tells me that his kids did see the movie and it is definitely PG-13 land. Stu, meanwhile, saw "Year One" and says it makes a nice rental down the road, we talk a little TV (Stu hated "Merlin").

Ahh, a podcast invaded by radio waves, an explanation to not underestimate the power of "Transformers," and Stu feels the wrath of religious Facebook friends – What more could you ask for?

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! The Hangover, Terminator, Idle Hands, and Bonne Terre Mines

By:

The Dude on the Right

I’m back from Houston-town so Stu Gotz and I can get back into "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcasting mode, and Stu starts out bummed that his favorite Irish Pub, well, as Irish as an American Irish Pub can be, is closed, that pub being Galway Tribes in Frankfort, IL. But as we get to our weekend talk, Stu tells of his travels to Bonne Terre, MO, to go scuba diving in some abandoned lead mines. He had a good time and posted a YouTube video, and tells the tale of the donkeys that go blind. His diving aside, we get into some movie talk with Stu revisiting "Idle Hands" and a "naked" Jessica Alba via a body double, while I let Stu know that a couple of 5 star movies for him to see are "Up" for the kids and "The Hangover" for the adults. I do my best not to give any spoilers for "The Hangover," and let Stu know how the weekend box office went with a bomb in the making of "Land of the Lost," complete with our analysis.

We continue with a little bit of TV talk and my getting sucked into "I’m a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here," and I also set up some topics for next week because I forgot to tell Stu about my being Pretty Woman and how I should have been in San Francisco for the announcement of the new iPhone. Oh well, I suppose it will wait.

All of that and more in this podcast episode! Thanks for listening!
