Grammy Talk, Nicolas Cage’s Clone, The Big Year, Contagion, and Happy Valentine’s Day!

It was “The Big Year” at The Grammy’s for Adele, where luckily there was no “Contagion” to ruin the likes of Bruce Springsteen, and an all-star guitar jam was just “In Time” to bring life to a show exorcised by Nicki Minaj. Nicolas Cage couldn’t be there, maybe because his clone was Live on Saturday Night, but hopefully he won’t forget Valentine’s Day tomorrow. He’ll probably have clean balls, but The Dude on the Right won’t until at least this Saturday, while Stu Gotz, over this upcoming weekend, might be able to help you with that underwater video of whales humping you’ve been trying to edit, or at least help you figure out how to make it viral.

Yup, during this episode of Stu & The Dude’s “Weekend Wrap-Up” podcast we talk about all of those things, just not necessarily in that order.

New TV & Old TV, Sucky Bears & Sucky Shoes, Getting Wet & Getting A New iPhone.

The fall television season has begun, and for this “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, Stu Gotz and I break down the return of “Two and a Half Men,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Saturday Night Live,” and my lack of seeing the current “Survivor.” Then there are the new shows, and I explain to Stu that “Pan Am” is a good show, especially because it portrays how a stewardess should be, Stu is worried that some shows like “Up All Night” and “Person of Interest” might easily lose steam if they are even able to build an audience at all, and we discuss “The X Factor” and a naked man.

The Chicago Bears lost even with a trick play that reminded me of my football days, lots of people have seen “The Smurfs” movie and we don’t know why, I can’t decide whether I should see a funny movie about cancer (“50/50″) or a movie about baseball (“Moneyball”), I went shoe shopping and was denied by both Nordstrom and Zappos, Stu Gotz got wet and it didn’t even have to do with his wishing his Lil’ Gotz a happy birthday today, and I recommend you start getting in line now to buy a new iPhone on October 14th.

It was a busy weekend, let alone week!

Buh Bye Netflix, Some Salsa (not Seltzer), Revisiting the 80’s, and It’s Not a Full Moon, Yet.

During this episode of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, I find out that Stu Gotz has a farm for a back yard, and Stu finds out that I gave up on Netflix. Okay, Stu doesn’t really have a farm for a back yard, but he does have enough stuff growing in his garden to make a mean salsa, and yes, I cancelled my Netflix account. Yup, it took the BFF and me about six weeks to watch “Inception,” and during the podcast I tell you if you should watch it if you haven’t seen it yet. Oddly enough, it really wasn’t their rate increase that finalized my Netflix decision, but Stu and I break it all down. Stu, meanwhile, was enjoying a weekend without the Little Gotz’s, so he and Mama Gotz caught “Cowboys & Aliens” and revisted the 80’s by catching some Cheap Trick and having Mama Gotz doing some tequila shots.

I found people crazy on Saturday, Stu won some cool stuff in a SCUBA raffle, I’m looking forward to the return of Millionaire Matchmaker, and both Stu and I think “30 Minutes or Less” might be funny. It’s another weekend, and we talk about it.

A Tee Pee, the Chicago Bears, Cowboys & Aliens, a Carnival, and Shooting Up in a Theater!

By: The Dude on the Right

We don’t have time to talk about no stupid debt ceiling, nope, we’ve got tee pees, bungholes, and Cowboys & Aliens! It must be another “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast!

Yup, Stu Gotz built a tee pee in his backyard, as he had threatened to do during last week’s episode, and a little skimping on his work ethic caused some smokiness when the Little Gotz’s decided they needed a bigger fire. And speaking of tee pees, I saw “Cowboys & Aliens,” a movie that had Indians in it, too, and if I recall, a couple of tee pees, and I let you know if you should see it (Here’s a hint: If you like westerns and aliens, you should.). And with movie talk, we also have some “Going to the movie talk” with wondering if it’s okay to pull out the insulin and needle in the movie theater.

The Gotz family went to a carnival, I worked on my old iPhone app called Make Me Smile, Stu did some diving at Haigh Quarry, and I begin my excitement for a crappy season of Chicago Bears’ football. It’s a weekend wrap-up, it’s a podcast, and it’s so much more!

Soccer is Done, Harry Potter is Done, Netflix is Done (Sort of), and Summer is Here!

With the woman’s USA team losing to Japan for the World Cup, after today’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Podcast Stu Gotz and I don’t have a reason to talk about soccer for a while. And with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II hitting theaters over the weekend, we won’t have a reason to talk about Harry Potter, either. But that won’t stop us from wrapping up our weekends, because there is always something to talk about, because, during this episode, we also talk about other movies, like “Bridesmaids,” “Take Me Home Tonight,” and “Get Him to the Greek.”

We also have some discussions about maybe my possibly cancelling our Netflix account, Stu did some SCUBA diving, I went to Hooters, and neither of us are that excited about “Captain America” opening next weekend. Man, 20 minutes goes by so quickly!

Rain Gutter Guards at a SCUBA Show, Mattresses, Little Things, and Loving Survivor.

I watched an episode of “Chuck!” Yup, I’m catching up on my TV viewing, and during this episode of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, I let Stu Gotz know what I think about the girl with the black hair. I also let Stu know that “Survivor: Redemption Island” is great, and that I’m seeing how they will be working to finish up “Smallville,” at least for me.

Stu, meanwhile, spent the weekend SCUBAing, or at least talking about SCUBA, at a local convention. He found it odd some of the items being peddled at the show, but I put things in perspective for him. He did get out to see some of “Gnomeo and Juliet,” had a great meal at The Capital Grille in Rosemont thanks to it being Chicago Restaurant week (it ends Feb 27th) in, well, Chicago(land), and saw a movie on DVD called “Trailer Park Boys: The Movie” and is curious what I might thing of it.

We’re celebrating President’s Day, a little thing makes my wife happy, Stu sings the “Hail to the Chief” version from the movie “Dave,” and it would be nice if the rain rain would go away away.

A New iPhone App, SCUBA-ing, and Frontera Grill is Good.

By: The Dude on the Right

As our latest episode of Stu & The Dude’s "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast starts, I give an explanation of time lords and doctors, and some other stuff about Doctor Who that Stu Gotz wondered, of which I have no clue what I’m talking about (Thanks Mystery Dude!). What I do know what I’m talking about, though, is that A) I made another iPhone app called the "Countdown Clockorrayter," and I’m getting marring in under two months!

So, I tell Stu how the wedding plans are coming along, about my BFF and I getting haircuts, and how Frontera Grill (a Rick Bayless restaurant in Chicago), is really good. Stu tried to film some stuff in 3-D while SCUBA-ing, took the little Gotz’s to "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," and finally saw the ending of "Cool Hand Luke" and now understands how it relates to Cartman on South Park.

Stu likes the iPhone app "Plants vs Zombies," while I still like my "Clockorrayter," (and hey, since I’m shamelessly self-promoting, check out "Make Me Smile" as well), Stu’s camera survived because it has some special Bonica magic, and neither of us figure we will be seeing the movie "Takers."

An S&M Sunday, Port-O-Potties, Dr. Who is Who, and Being Super Macho

By: The Dude on the Right

Although a lot of Chicago ended up flooded, happily myself and Stu Gotz detail, during our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, our survival tips, or rather our “We were just lucky” tips, of the Chicago flood of 2010. Stu fought the flooding by braving the elements during a camping trip, while I fought them with being oblivious, and although no worse for wear, Stu does have some issues with his air conditioning which hopefully are getting repaired as we speak.

Rain didn’t seem to dampen either of our weekends as Stu continued his investigative reporting of how to have fun with your kids at a demolition derby, and in tonight’s episode we find out about taking your Little Gotz into a port-a-potty, and how it might be the woman’s fault for the mess. Me, as the big day draws closer, a lot of me is about getting married, and finding wedding bands took precedence this weekend, and chatting with our priest for the wedding.

Stu went diving, I did mopping; Stu thinks Dr. Who is Doctress Who, and I think some dude in this summer’s Big Brother is a genius. And, well, neither of us has still seen “Inception,” and neither of us will being trying “Super Macho,” with all of its bull semen supposed goodness.

“Get Him to the Greek” is Good, The BP Oil Spill is Bad; Howie Mandel is Funny, Jimmy Buffett seems Sad.

By: The Dude on the Right

Our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast is a day late because Stu Gotz was on a fact-finding mission to Key Largo, but I think he just wanted some time away from kids so he could spend quality time with Mama Gotz, or maybe just go diving. As Stu tells it, he was on a mission to check out the reefs in the area prior to them being contaminated by the BP oil spill, but he really seemed to talk more about the local spots he and Mama Gotz visited where the only fish they saw were the ones that ended up in their belly and they serve a lot of Bud Light.

SCUBA diving aside, I tell Stu if “Get Him to the Greek” is any good (It is!), and we both discuss the failings and not-so-failings going on at the launch of the new iPhone at the Apple WWDC. I find out that Stu isn’t a fan of Andy Ihnatko, a tech writer for the Chicago Sun Times, whereas I enjoy his articles, Stu is excited that “Burn Notice” is coming back, and I don’t care, I think Howie Mandel is a great judge on “America’s Got Talent,” Stu likes “Supernatural,” Jimmy Buffett seems sad, and it looks like graduation parties will be a part of my life for many years to come!

And to wrap up the podcast summary, during this podcast you can find out which one of us is excited about the new “The A-Team” movie, if either of us want to see the new “Karate Kid,” and how I’m hoping for the Chicago Blackhawks to win the Stanley Cup this year because I need to shave.

Pre-Cana Talk, Canada Talk, Blackhawk Talk, TV Talk, Diving Talk, and More Talk.

I can get married, so says the Catholic Church, at least so far, and during this episode of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast I tell Stu Gotz how my BFF and I made it through our Pre-Cana training/seminar/class, or as I call it, our day of love. Yup, I let Stu know how our weekend changed from a weekend of love to a day of love (even though it’s actually a lifetime of love), how health is important in a marriage, or at least healthy insurance, and even though I don’t say it right, I wonder why the class didn’t focus as much on the reason we were able to have our class in one day and address those reasons, rather than some discussing of the already seemingly obvious. Oh well.

Stu, on the other hand, made a trip to the Great White North, and it wasn’t even for hockey (Woo Blackhawsk! – Heading to the Stanley Cup finals, or whatever they are calling it). Yup, he had a diving seminar to give, and according to Stu, it turns out his advice on underwater photography is very good, especially for those just getting started, or even for those just wanting to take a great picture. His trip also facilitated him seeing a movie, namely “The Tooth Fairy,” thanks to the airplane, and he lets us know if it’s a fine, family film.

I tell Stu about Brett Michaels winning The Celebrity Apprentice, neither of us saw the final Lost episode although I have it TiVo’d, we lament that Monk won’t be on TV this summer, and Stu most likely won’t be seeing “Sex In the City 2,” although he is going to see James Taylor and Carol King and will hopefully give his review of the show next week.

Memorial Day is coming up next Monday so our podcast will be bumped a day or so, but in the meantime Happy Summer – it’s coming on strong.
