Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! A Mr. Squiggles Zsu Zau Pet, Avatar, Plumbing Talk, Computer Woes and Airport Delays.

By:

The Dude on the Right

I had a Zsu Zsu pet, I think it was Mr. Squiggles, in my hands, sort of. I mean, I was holding it, but I gave it away.  You see, I was getting ready to meet Stu Gotz for our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast when he called me, frantically, to see if I could meet him at a Toys R Us to pick up one of the cherished pets because the store had a policy of something like one per customer per day, and all I know is I hope his kids appreciate it, or I better get a cut if he sells it on eBay. Yup, our podcast began even before I hit the “Record” button.

Luckily, though, Stu was even able to meet me for our podcast because he was almost the victim of a plumbing accident, or at least a victim of utter embarrassment due to some plumbing.  While he was wasting a day under a sink I was wasting a day with computer issues, which interrupted some movie viewing, namely my not being able to see “Julie & Julia” and “Up In the Air,” although I Stu and I did see “Avatar” so we discuss the merits of the latest James Cameron film, and we also have a short discussion about “Extract,” the Mike Judge flick, that comes out on Blu-ray.

All in all it was mostly a weekend of getting ready for Christmas for the both of us, although Stu did give me some homework before the podcast because he wanted to talk about the XOXO window displays in New York City, so I had to do some YouTube searching to watch women in lingerie.  The things I do for our podast.

Merry Christmas, and thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! No Sleep, No New Satellite, No Jon Bovi, No Oprah Caroling, but Yes Movies.

By:

The Dude on the Right

For this edition of our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast I’m tired and Stu Gotz is grumpy, but we do our best to get past that and keep the energy up without dragging you down.  I explain to Stu about my tiredness, mostly because I couldn’t sleep because of some songs stuck in my head (and there is some singing about dradles and butcher boys involved), while Stu is grumpy not because of the cable guy, but because of the satellite guy. As we get through our various issues, our weekends come into play because Stu got to see some Christmas music being played after driving for nearly an hour and a half, while I got to witness, first-hand, how kids react differently to Santa Claus.

On the movie front, Stu is recommending "Inkheart" which is now on cable, while I’m not recommending "Duplicity," but if you have kids we both think "G-Force" will be good for you on Blu-ray.  We are both disgusted with the Chicago Bears, I relate the utter disappointment that my BFF had because Saturday Night Live seemed to have dropped the ball on a seemingly obvious skit involving Jon Bovi and Bon Jovi, and Stu’s finding creepiness didn’t seem to translate to my BFF and I watching the series finale of Monk.

Stu does bring some grumpiness back to the podcast as there was some bizarre Christmas gifting at a Taekwondo party, and because I tweet and follow Oprah, I’m still waiting to see some video of her caroling with her friends, and both of us are looking forward to "Avatar," while the ladies in their lives might be more likely to want to see "Did You Hear About the Morgans."  That will have to wait until next week.

Thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Surviving Thanksgiving, Macy’s is Slipping, Biaggi’s Has a Good Salad, and No Tiger Woods.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Everyone else is talking about Tiger Woods and what may or may not have happened when he crashed his SUV over the weekend, but you won’t hear me or Stu Gotz talking about it during our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast because we are waiting until the entire story comes out rather than throw wild speculation out there which could only get us in trouble. Instead we talk about our Thanksgiving weekend festivities, where Stu saw a parade and
wonders how many little kids know who Paddington Bear is, thinks that New York City gets the cool balloons, and also thinks Macy’s is getting lazy with their dingy displays, and I think shopping at Macy’s is just sucking. Over the weekend I introduced my sister and her family to my BFF’s family so I tell Stu if there were any fireworks, and also, over the weekend, my sister impressed on us the fact that the salad at Biaggi’s is "the best!"

I do have a fear that Stu is becoming my sister because he liked "Old Dogs," whereas I couldn’t wait for it to end, we are both sad that "Monk" is coming to a close, I think I am now a Minnesota Vikings fan, and I drove almost to St. Louis and back and I’m still trying to figure out why.

We talk TV, we talk movies, Stu talks a joke, and we talk Thanksgiving. We don’t talk about Tiger, or even tigers for that matter, but there is talk about an Underdog.

Thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! TWILFS, Smurfs, Destruction, Life, Pinewood Races, and More.

By:

The Dude on the Right

First off, a quick shout-out to The W.G.N. for one of the greatest sport’s accomplishments of all time, a 300 game! Congrats to you, W.G.N.!

Now, even though Sarah Palin probably wouldn’t be a guest on our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, since she is all over the place, including guesting on Oprah today and with Barbara Walters tomorrow, suddenly the term TWILF has bounced in popularity, thanks also to something called The Stupid Virus I guess.  I ask Stu Gotz if he knows what the term means and then I find out that Stu, well, wouldn’t turn down Ms. Palin but only if she kept her mouth shut.  Sarah Palin aside, it turns out that Stu also forgot about Walter Jacobson and Bill Kurtis getting back together for one night on the CBS local news here in Chicago last Friday, but I let him know how Bob Sirott would have liked Mr. Kurtis to have introduced himself on the broadcast, even though it didn’t happen.

Being a weekend, as usual, we did see a bunch of movies and talk about them, as Stu saw “Precious” with Mama Gotz and I saw “2012” by myself.  I also have been doing a bunch of Blu-ray viewing with a review of “Up” posted, and I give Stu previews of my thoughts for reviews of “Monsters, Inc.,” “Bruno,” and the Kevin Smith Collection (it includes “Clerks,” “Chasing Amy,” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back”), all coming out (or already out as is the case with “Monsters…”) on Blu-ray and DVD.

Even though the Chicago Bears didn’t play on Sunday, we do talk some New England Patriots/Bill Belichick and why Stu will never be a head coach in the NFL, we discuss aerodynamics in a Pinewood Derby, and also Smurfs on “South Park.”

Lastly, Stu issues a challenge both to me and to you, namely that you should try to wipe your ass with the opposite hand, and me, trying not to be outdone, I issue a challenge to take a shower in the opposite progression that you normally take.  Good luck and let us know your experience.

Thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! This Is It, Halloween, A Red Light, and A Facebook Intervention.

By:

The Dude on the Right

I’ll just start right out and apologize for any swearing that takes place during this “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast and just blame Mama Gotz.  Yup, from what Stu tells me, she might be partly responsible for a red-light that one of the Little Gotz’s got, and oddly enough, even though we talk about the latest Playboy with a naked (sort of) Marge Simpson, most of that conversation is clean.

Since it was Halloween weekend, though, there is some talk of the good times Stu had with the Little Gotz’s and lack of trick-or-treaters, I tell Stu of my tales of fright, and no, I’m not talking about the fact that my BFF and I went to see “Michael Jackson’s This Is It,” the Michael Jackson documentary/movie/it’s too damn bad he died because that would have been one hell of a concert story.

Stu, meanwhile, got wrapped up in some home improvement, some lack of internet access, an “Army of Darkness” B-Movie recommendation thanks to the acting of Bruce Campbell, and not caring about “A Christmas Carol,” while I’m looking forward to “The Men Who Stare at Goats,” can’t make up my mind about the Chicago Bears, and might need a Facebook intervention thanks to Bejeweled Blitz.

All of that and more, and hopefully a new podcast next week, that is if I can finally beat The W.G.N., and my Sis, in Bejeweled Blitz, unless, of course, my BFF breaks my wrist first.

Thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Paranormal Activity, Hair Cuts, To H1N1 or Not to H1N1, and The Bears Still Suck.

By:

The Dude on the Right

I wasn’t cold, nor frightened while watching “Paranormal Activity,” so I tell Stu Gotz all about it during our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, while Stu tells me he got a haircut, but I couldn’t tell.  The haircut thing really had Stu in a tizzy over the weekend, mostly because he was too late to see Pat at Pat’s barbershop so he and the Gotz boys ended up in a salon, but I still think he got ripped off.

We both saw a lot of movies, mostly thanks to cable and DVD’s, so I tell Stu if “Milk” was any good while Stu didn’t like “I Love You, Man,” even though I sort of did, nor did he care for “Imagine That,” and he lets you know if you should let your kids see “Caroline” or not.

Yes, we also talk about the Chicago Bears although we might not talk about them much more as the only good thing about the game for me was seeing my future in-laws, and we both wonder about the H1N1 virus, a.k.a. Swine Flu scare, and how Stu thinks the vaccine people need to take a lesson from Scotty in Star Trek when coming up with their vaccine production predictions.

All of that and more, and as always, thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Staying in Bed, Management, Toy Stories, Not Being Prepared, and Balloon Boy!

By:

The Dude on the Right

I wanted to crawl back into bed this morning, and during our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, Stu explains that he wanted to do the same, but for a very different reason.  Me, I was in full klutz mode for a couple of days, destroying a vase with flowers that I couldn’t remember properly why I got them, then dumping a couple of quarts of iced tea on the dog, and also nearly taking a header in the shower, while Stu, well, Stu has a cold.  But neither stopped us from having super-exciting weekends as I wept with joy at the taste of “Count Chocula” while wallowed in tears thanks to the loss by the Chicago Bears, and Stu wondered about the “Being Prepared” moniker of the Boy/Cub Scouts.  At least we both had some movie viewing, with me snuggling with my BFF to “Management” while Stu and the Gotz Family enjoyed the 3-D versions of “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2.”

The weekend also brought some resolution to the story of “Balloon Boy,” and his dad, a story that also had Stu investigating the song styling’s of The 5th Dimension which somehow led to Monty Python.  Oh well, at least we didn’t have Olympic talk this week.  Oh, wait, we did, thanks to drug gangs in Rio de Janeiro.  How do we talk about so much stuff, including reminiscing about “The 5th Element,” in so little time?  Listen and find out!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! A Peace Prize, Couples Retreat, Where’s My Sidekick Stuff, and Stupid People!

By:

The Dude on the Right

Now that I think about our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast, Stu didn’t really tell me much about his weekend, but I did let him know that if he wanted to take Mama Gotz to see "Couples Retreat," well, it might not be a bad thing. Thinking about it further, I guess neither of us talked about the weekend that much because it really wasn’t that exciting, so we did talk a little politics (President Obama’s winning of the Nobel Peace Prize, and my theory of why he won), we talk a little health (should you, or should you not get the flu shot, or better yet, the H1N1, aka "Swine" flu shot?), surviving without your Internet (Stu cannot), Sidekick woes (and Comcast cable TV woes and AT&T U-Verse wishes), Alyssa Milano naked (even if the movie sucks), and what better way to end a podcast than with talk of stupid people (who seem to live at Starbucks, Target, and Wal-Mart).

And, oh yea, it might filter into next weekend, but neither of us seem to give a damn about the "Where The Wild Things Are" movie that is coming out next weekend, even though I might go see it anyway.

Weird weekend talk, but then again, without a Chicago Bears game, I was a little lost. Happy listening!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Chicago Sucks, A Movie Weekend, and Wiping Your Ass.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast starts on a sad note as Stu Gotz and I lament about Chicago’s not being chosen to host the 2016 Olympics.  We break down why Chicago lost, what was wrong with the news broadcasts, what was wrong with the celebration preparations, and even Mama Gotz tells Stu her theory for the snub.  But we quickly get over our sadness as I saw a plethora of movies over the weekend, namely “Zombieland” (loved it and Bill Murray), “The Invention of Lying” (liked it and Jennifer Garner), and thanks to Netflix, I found that “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” isn’t a horrible movie, just a generic romantic comedy good enough for your cable viewing.

Stu, on the other hand, had a rough weekend as some shelf building injured his normal, butt-wiping flipper, and quickly learned he is not ambidextrous and probably won’t fair well if he really is injured.  He also learned that kids sometimes follow the leads of other kids but was proud of his son’s ability to seek out a garbage can, and his money pit, or rather RV, is ready for some camping.  Stu also has his idea for a perfect wedding gift and has now secured that he may not be invited to my upcoming nuptials.

All of that, some Chicago Bears talk, in under 20 minutes!

Happy listening!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! The Chicago Olympics, Monday TV Viewing, Surrogates, Jim Cantore Calls Stu, and More!

By:

The Dude on the Right

Maybe it’s just a guy thing, but as I started our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast Stu Gotz caught on immediately to the saying “Here I sit, broken hearted…”  But farts and pooping did not last long in our talking as naked women and Stu Gotz getting a call from Jim Cantore with The Weather Channel immediately took precedence. Then with President Obama heading to Copenhagen to boost Chicago’s Olympic big, and the return of the Chia Obama, why not hit some politics as well, so we do.

Now the both of us know that politics can be controversial, and since our weekends try to stay fun Stu tells me about the martial arts talents of the Little Gotz’s, we both saw “Surrogates,” (okay, so much for fun during our weekend), and the new TV season has us both stymied as to A) Recording all of the shows we want to, and B) watching them, especially since Stu wants me to watch some show on cable called “Pawn Shop.”  We talk a tad about the Chicago Bears, Stu wonders if Saturday Night Live will get fined by the FCC for dropping the F-Bomb, and Stu made the discovery of the century – He found Franken Berry, Boo Berry, and Count Chocula at his local target, and brought in the boxes to prove it.

We cover a lot of topics in eighteen minutes, and hope you enjoy some of them.

Happy listening!
