Stu Gotz is back! Yup, Stu Gotz is back for our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, but sadly, sound effects are not. Yup, I’ve got some technical difficulties with an upgrade of my Podcast software and bad testing on my part, but that doesn’t stop Stu and I from recollecting things that have gone on while Stu was away with the Gotz family. Stu, it seems saw a lot of movies, so I do my best to move Stu’s various synopsi along while he tells you if you should see “Black Swan,” “Tron: Legacy,” and “Gulliver’s Travels.”

Since Stu was gone, I was wondering how the Little Gotz’s fared being away for Christmas and if Santa was able to find their boat, and Stu was happy to report that the boys enjoyed Christmas, even without snow, and that Santa made it to the boat to keep the kids happy.

Me, meanwhile, being newly married, am trying to understand women, and who better to ask for advice than Stu!

We talk about “Dinner for Schmucks,” Stu hopes to convice Mama Gotz to see “The Green Hornet” with him while I have to work on convincing My BFF to come with me to “The Dilemma,” we are both looking forward to “Chuck” coming back and think the new Paula Abdul show sucks. Yes, we do talk a little about the shooting in Arizona, but that’s too serious for the two of us so I tell Stu about some bat-shit crazy women on “The Bachelor” and work to convince Stu that the Chicago Bears will be in the Super Bowl.

Stu tells of beer-snobbery, I tell of Idol-aprehensiveness, and Stu likes boobs. Yup, Stu is back.

Thanks for listening!

The Cubs – They Blow, Father’s Day Musings, Handiness, Storms, Crabs, and Donkey Chips.

Stu Gotz celebrated Father’s Day because, well, he’s a dad, and during this episode of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, we find out how Stu celebrated. Let’s just say it had more to do about Mama Gotz and his kids than it was about him, but isn’t that the way a lot of Father’s Days go? Me, sure, Milo, our dog, licked me on the face, so I guess that was my Dad’s day gift!

Celebrating, though, wasn’t all the two of did over the weekend. Nope, Stu got to catch a Chicago Cubs game, I got to rake a lot of mulch thanks to some summer storms (were they really summer storms, though, if summer officially started today?), Stu saw “Killers” with Astton Kutcher, and I saw “It’s Complicated,” so, of course, we give our riveting movie reviews and commentary. Stu was handy, I drove all night for Donkey Chips, Stu likes a YouTube video making fun of the BP oil spill, and I’m watching Bethany getting married.

We do a lot over the weekend, and we do our best to tell you about it!

Thanks for listening!

Reviews of Movies You’ve Seen, I’m Watching The Bachelorette, No Dr. Who, and Happy Birthday Jacques Cousteau!

I finally saw “Iron Man 2,” and Stu Gotz finally saw “Iron Man 2,” so a month after it came out, during this episode of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, we tell you if you liked it when you already saw it. Me, I also saw “The Blind Side” and let Stu know if he should catch it, while Stu at least also saw something current, namely “Shrek Forever After” and comments on how it stacks up in the “Shrek” series.

There is also TV on our podcast menu as Stu is confused about why there didn’t seem to be a new “Dr. Who” episode (any help is appreciated as Stu is too lazy to actually find out), I was one of the few people watching “The Bachelorette” instead of the Chicago Blackhawks going for The Stanley Cup, and now that “American Idol” is pretty much done forever, especially with the failed Ellen experiment and Simon Cowell leaving, I’m looking forward to “America’s Got Talent” this summer.

Stu saw cars crash at a demolition derby, I got creeped out by people with germs, Stu says you can get a free movie rental from Redbox, and I give my tribute to John Denver and Jacques Cousteau all in one (Jacques would be 100 years old this month, and John, well, he’d be something like 66, but they’re both still dead)! Aye, Calypso!

No Iron Man 2, Camping Tales, Furry Vengence, Mom’s Day, and A Giant Surprise Party.

Camping in the cold and wind, with a couple of youngins in tow, can really suck if you’re in a tent, but lucky for Stu Gotz he had the party RV, so during our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast he lets us know that during a recent trip to Jellystone Campgrounds, things weren’t so bad.  Me, I didn’t get to see “Iron Man 2” and let Stu know my reasons why, including a huge, giant, enormous surprise birthday party for staff member, Trash, then there was the trip to the church to listen to a lot of wedding music, and with it being Mother’s Day weekend, the BFF and I headed over to my future mom-in-law for some family time.

Stu got Mama Gotz a special Mother’s Day gift and says that the movie “Furry Vengence” really sucked, and he’s even a Brendan Frasier fan.

There is also some TV talk as I’m sucked back into “Survivor” even though I don’t know when I’m going to watch the final two episodes, Stu is sucked into “Doctor Who,” and Stu also realizes he is not really a fan of the lyrical stylings of Paul McCartney and Wings, and sure, that’s not really TV talk, but Paul McCartney has been on TV.

All of that and more, if all of that’s not enough. Thanks for listening!

The C-Word, The Blackhawks, The Treasure Isle, The Kick-Ass, The Great Lake Pizza, and The More!

Hide the kids, put on the headphones, and don’t play this “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast at work because Stu Gotz can’t stand a star that is dancing (psst, it’s Kate Gosselin) and uses language that only an 11 year old girl would use, that is if the 11 year old girl was in a movie called “Kick-Ass.” Me, I tell Stu some of the words that the 11 year old girl uses, and also if the movie is any good (I loved it). Also along the movie front, Stu, for reasons I’m still not sure, watched “The Yearling” with Gregory Peck and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” with Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra, and I’m really getting worried about Stu.

We also chat a bit about the Chicago Blackhawks as they are in the race for The Stanley Cup, Stu gives his “expert” opinion about Ke$ha while I explain my desire to be a Ke$ha back-up dancer, I fill Stu in on a pizza joint in Chicago called Great Lake that has the “best” pizza in America (somehow I compare it to seeing an artsy movie), both of us are now addicted to Zynga’s latest Facebook creation, Treasure Isle, and I wonder if Stu, being the dive-dork that he is, has seen the video of the octopus that stole some dude’s camera that is propogating the Twitter universe (hey, go ahead and follow me at @dudeonright). Also, there’s a dirty Starbuck’s bathroom, and it’s in the Andersonville neighborhood in Chicago in case you want to avoid it.

All of that and more, if all of that’s not enough. Thanks for listening!

Vegas, Easter, Cubs, Movies, and Treasure Isle is Evil!

By: The Dude on the Right

After a one week hiatus, Stu Gotz and I are back for our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast. Yup, Stu needed some time away for Easter, and nothing says Easter like taking the Gotz kids to Las Vegas. Me, I just needed a break while I finished up some iPhone app stuff. So we’re back, and Stu was pleased at the version of “Viva Las Vegas” that I found, by the one and only Pirahna Man who used to be heard when Jonathan Brandmeier was on the air here in Chicago. But the podcast isn’t all fun and games. Well, actually it’s mostly fun and games, and also my quick review of “Pirate Radio” that comes out on DVD in prep for my full review later. Stu finally got to see “Up In The Air,” the George Clooney movie, and I watched golf for a change, and it wasn’t just because of Tiger Woods.

And speaking of TV, I tell Stu if “Celebrity Apprentice” is getting any good, Stu was pleased to find that he can now stream Netflix via his Wii, and Stu’s latest TV recommendation is “Supernatural.

Stu tells about a concert coming to the Chicago area, I let Stu know that the latest Zynga Facebook game, “Treasure Isle” is evil because it mixes elements of Farmville and Mafia Wars, and Stu is upset because the school his kids go to seem to be White Sox fans. All of that an more after our hiatus, and it’s good to be back!

Hot Tub Time Machine, No Miley Cyrus Love, Greedy People, and Fun Times in MI!

By: The Dude on the Right

During this episode of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, Stu Gotz talks about his recent trip to the state that looks like a mitten, while I have clean balls. Okay, there isn’t that much ball talk, but the both of us did see “Hot Tub Time Machine” and think it is one, funny movie, especially if you lived through the 1980’s. Stu’s trip to Michigan wasn’t nearly as bad as he thought it might turn out to be, I got to witness greedy people at a business expo, and with Easter and the release of the Apple iPad coming up (I’ll let someone else fight about which is more important), Stu has special plans for his celebration.

Me, I tell Stu that things are pretty calm in The Dude world, the TV catching-up is nearly complete, and I’m not really looking forward to the new “Clash of the Titans” this weekend because I love the cheesiness of the original, and then we find out what Stu really thinks about Miley Cyrus because, well, she has a new movie, “The Last Song,” opening this weekend, too. Happy Easter to all of you Christians out there, Happy Passover to our Jewish listeners, and for the rest of you, heck, Happy April!

Thanks for listening!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! American Idol is Coming, Up In the Air is Good, Jay Leno is Moving, and 3-D TV Will Survive.

By:

The Dude on the Right

I was really worried that computer server woes would stop me from posting our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast, but thankfully things have been fixed just in time for Stu Gotz’s and my weekly chat,, especially with "American Idol" starting tomorrow.  Stu and I do a little dissecting of "American Idol," what with Paula Abdul gone, Simon Cowell leaving, Ellen DeGeneres onboard, and the auditions in Boston coming up, but, as we sometimes do, we quickly shift topics, and hide the children but it’s also time for the Adult Video News Awards in Las Vegas where we find out what technology that was at the CES show last week will be supported by the porn industry.

As the podcast continues with some adultness, I let Stu know if "Up In The Air," the George Clooney movie, is any good, Stu is catching up on "Chuck" so hopefully next week we will be on the same page, and in terms of kid-ness, Stu was shocked that "Pink Panther 1" is actually worse than "Pink Panther 2."

Stu’s sister got a new computer and doesn’t know what a web browser is, Jay Leno is doing something, and Stu is going to beer school.  All of that, and more, as 2010 continues!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Glassware, Bad Luck, Dr. Who, and a Sugartoad.

By:

The Dude on the Right

IIT Bog GlassIt’s the New Year, and both Stu Gotz and I survived so we are back for 2010 with our first "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast of the, well, new year. Neither of us revisited our crazy days and ended up puking drunk on the street, but instead I spent some time at Sugartoad restaurant with my BFF and some friends while Stu kept things calm in his own world. But it was a long weekend, so we both did plenty, and also did a lot of nothing. Stu, well, he spent some quality time with the Little Gotz’s watching "Pink Panther 2" that he got thanks to his local RedBox, while I spent some extra quality time with my future in-laws. We talk about Dr. Who and some dudes named David Tennant and Matt Smith, Stu is worried he will have seven years of bad luck, and he also tells me if I should be watching "Jersey Shore" and "The Squeeze" while I don’t tell Stu if he should be watching "Bridezillas."

Stu needs to make things up to one of his sons who had a nice idea for a Christmas gift, I’m going to be painting parking lines in my garage, Stu wanted to talk about the new Google Android phone but doesn’t, and I give Stu a gift even though Christmas is over. It’s a new year and we’re back for the ride.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! A Roomba Review, A Sherlock Holmes Reviews, Christmas is Gone, and a Batch of WTF’s.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Ahh, Christmas has come and gone, so naturally, during this "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast, Stu Gotz and I reminisce.  Okay, we don’t really reminisce, but we did both see "Sherlock Holmes" and sort of agreed on most counts about it. Stu liked the chemistry between Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and Watson (Jude Law), but wanted more drug use, and I had to explain to him why "It’s Complicated" was rated R and only made $20 million while "Sherlock" skipped the drug references, kept things PG-13, and even though lots of people wind up dead it made over $65 million.  Movie theater viewing aside, since TV viewing sucks in the holiday season, I let Stu know about "Julie & Julia," and that I caught up some BFF recommended viewing of "It’s a Wonderful Life" and "The Wizard of Oz," while he agreed that "Kelly’s Heroes" should be added to the "BFF must watch" movie list.

There was a lot of gift giving for Christmas, at least in the Gotz household, much to Stu’s dismay, but Mama Gotz seems happy with her Roomba, and Stu gives his full Roomba review, so I guess there will be no more vacuuming for Stu, he is also WTF’d about a member of his family who didn’t know what an iPod was, and although it seems AT&T is back selling iPhones to people in New York City, Stu is a hater (although I think he’s just jealous), so he wants an iPhone for Verizon.

Happy New Year everyone, thanks for listening, and we’ll see you next year!!
